joeplayer-
I got you mixed up with shooterjoe, was gonna ask if your avatar pic was when your shroud exploded !!!!
Just kiddin around folks, nothing to do with ya player, nothing personal to tony as well, I would buy his stuff anytime.

Just for the record…No one belonging to this forum has anything on or added to their guns that silences or quiets teh report in any way shape or form….We are all legal law abiding citizens and we are commited to leading a clean and wholesome american life…… Any and all violators of the law have long since been turned in to the proper officials and no longer subscribe to this forum…..

I get the chance to attend a private machine gun shoot about once every two years. Some times every year. The really neat thing is that we get to play with some very exotic toys. My favorite is not new, but still one of my favorites. the HK MP-5 Fully suppressed, Full Auto. Wow!!! Now that is a fun toy!

My next favorite was the M1-A1 or M-14 full Auto in .308..
One fellow had a MP-5 clone in .22 long rifle that was suppressed in full auto. Now there is a toy I can afford to feed!!

Got to get me one of them!!!

One huge sup prize, with all this exotic hard ware around is after the shoot, while eating Texas BBQ, I pulled the SS with the LDC on it. A few chuckled at it. So I removed the shroud and fired a round off. Holy Shit yelled some one. i then put the shroud back on and every one there wanted to have a go with it.

The Talon was a big hit!!! 😀

knifemaker, thanks for clearification, it helps alot 🙂

Thanks Mike, well said. Mike is correct and to the point. Its crazy how this subject goes around and around when the facts are already out there.

i have a gunpower storm im not sure wot model its similer to in the usa but it dident have a shroud so i made one out of an aluminum vacume pipe and fitted it to my silecer, would this be legal there?

Please do a search on the subject here. I just got through posting on this subject on Air Gun Advice. You are getting a lot of misinformation already. For some reason, when it comes to suppressors and switch blade knives, everyone jumps in with more of an emotional response than what the laws really say.

Yes you can own and use a silencer in the US. The cost of the stamp has been the same of a LOT of years. At one time, it made it cost prohibitive for anyone but the wealthy. Now it is available to all of us.

If you are a legal resident, over 21 years of age. With no felony convictions, and live in a state and or city that allows you to enjoy you constitutionally assured rights, you can own a suppressor.

You must apply to the ATF for the stamp along with the SSN number of the device. You must also have it signed off by your local law enforcement authority.

If the ATF turns you down, it will be on legal grounds and you WILL be informed as to why you have been turned down. This is required by LAW!

At to having a LDC for your AIR GUN, the link from Beeman about the case involved a known felon. Also, the law has been changed.

First, it must decrease the sound level by at least 1 db. Hell. a balloon will do that. But here is the good part. The law now states that it has to be able to be affixed to a firearm with out modification.

In other words, a potato, watermelon, lawn more muffler, growl of paper towels, and a whole lot of other things are now not illegal to posses.

Yea I know. They are every day items. But the way the law was originally written, just about anything could be called a silencer. At the discretion of the ATF. No more.

If you LDC cannot be affixed to a firearm of at least one firing, without any alterations, or modifications to make it fit, it IS NOT A SILENCER!!!

The ATF has no jurisdiction over Air Guns. They are not Fire Arms by Federal Law. A couple of states have declared them as such, however these state laws have not yet been tested in a court of law, in front of Federal Judge. The US Federal Law expressly forbids Any State from passing a law making Air Guns -Fire Arms.

So enjoy your LDC. A lot of people here do.

The permanently attached thing ids for import purposes. Not manufacture here state side.

So when exactly does a pellet gun become a weapon in the US, cause you guys can have condors without em apparently, and also just to make sure, is an SS completely illegal in Canada cause the silencer is built on, thanks

not with out a BATF stamp which is a non refundable 200 bucks if they decide they dont want you to have it the money is theirs, and reason why its not allowed? dont know just because …. why cant you guys have over 12 fpe? just some stupid ass laws

that sucks, so how you guys make em quiet? the reaon why i ask is because i saw a thread wer somones shroud had blown up
and i cant figure out how? unless the barrel was shorter than the shroud and there was noting in between.

Several ways to make them quiet: Long barrel and low power makes them pretty quiet. Also, a full length barrel shroud going all the way back to the breech as supplied by the original airgun manufacturer seems to be legal. If a lawyer can hold it up in court and it looks like a silencer, it’s a silencer. Talon SS is a good example of a shrouded rifle that is legal in USA. Springers are naturally pretty quiet, but that’s not what we are talking about here.

I wish this wasn’t the case, but as a lowly pessant here in the USSA, I follow the rules.

what is afix the shroud permantly to my gun and just take out the bbl from the end cap of the shroud?

imma REBEL lol ill take my chances both my shrouds have baffles 😈

I think if it comes from the original rifle manufacturer, it’s okay, and I like the shrouds for my own use. But if it looks like a silencer, it’s a silencer. One of the reasons I got the Talon SS is because the shroud is permanent, and can’t be re-installed on a firearm. 🙂

Even though “everyone does it” it’s highly illegal and you can get thrown in jail for a long time, read the story of a guy that is there right now.

This is you hole “.” this is your hole in prison “o” OUCH! and not thanks.

the silencer laws date back to the great depression, they outlawed them because hungry people were using them to put food on the table and I guess we just can’t have that :9
