Silent Pellet Trap- Another Version of the Same Idea
Hey guys, here is my take on the silent pellet trap…
I used a breaker panel (I couldn’t find the outdoor box and this one was cheaper), some plywood at the back, 8-10 bars of goo and a nice steel handle on top.
The breaker box fits a piece of 8.5″x11″ paper perfectly and I used a piece of cardboard to keep it rigid…
I left a single layer of plastic to cover the electrical duct sealer so it wouldn’t collect dust and stuff and I didn’t have to get my hands all sticky when flattening it out…
The ‘handle’ is actually a item to hold a 2×4 for using it as a door lock (large double door) but it strong enough to carry the whole deal with a couple of roundhead sheet metal screws to hold it in place.

The box is about 3″ deep… (Fits in a 2×4 stud wall)…
One layer of 3/4″ ply and about 1.5″ of duct seal…
How deep is it?

The duct seal has been fully unwrapped, I reapplied one layer of plastic from the seal wrapper on the top of all the bars of seal…
I used a small block of plywood to flatten and condense the duct seal, without the plastic it kept sticking to the block of wood… 👿 I left it there so I would have to deal with having my hands getting all sticky when I removed pellets…
Great idea for a pellet trap! Too bad it is so heavy or I would make them and sell them!! 😉
I have the same set-up, although I un-wrapped my duct seal.
Occasionally, I will use hemostats to remove the pellets,
I also roll out the duct seal smooth with a laminate j-roller.
Also found that a couple of magnets serve well to hold the targets.
For closer range shooting try the red plastic cap gun caps set in the duct seal, they usually come in 6 shooter format, so I cut them off to individual caps.

That’s my next upgrade!
Mines made up of left over 4×4’s from a landscaping project. Target area measures 8.5×22 (for 2 full size targets) and is backed by some scrape plywood with steel liner, filled to a 1.5 inch depth with the duct seal. (Bought out HD stock twice 🙂 )Kinda heavy but I don’t really move it anywhere.
