Silicone oil for sizing and shooting cast bullets
Before I firelapped my Haley I needed to clean every 20 shots to keep the accuracy at top level.
Then I firelapped and I got to where I could go 30 shots before I really needed to clean.
I have shot several thousand air gun cast bullets now without lube, with ATF, Lee Allox, Spray Moly, BreakFree and Imperial Sizing wax.
Last week John Bowman had mentioned to me that I should try Silicone oil. I had a can of sray silicone oil left over from a leather seal making project gathering dust on the window sill.
I shot this group at 212 yards, my personal best, after putting about 35 shots on the steel today, but I have 150 shots on this cleaning so far and the barrel looks like it did after shot #2, with just a hint of grey on the lands.
I seem to have it sighted in also.
I also used a bipod with the swivel locked to level. I have gotten a lot of 5 shot groups that had 4 shots in .90 to 2.0 and a flyer. Today I got 5 in a row using the bipod with the weak hand on the trigger guard.
Interesting enough, holding the forearm with weak hand gave me latteral stringing, but I had a wind so I need to retry that. Holding onto a bipod leg, put my group in the direction of the leg I was holding. But holding onto the triggerguard and pulling back with my weak hand seemed to work best.

I am going to have to find some liquid silicone.
Spray paint gives me migraines, I am prone to migraines due to a on duty injury, so when I paint my target I am very friggen careful not to breath the fumes.
Same thing when I used spray moly.
Well I sprayed some of the silicone in a ziplock wit bullets yesterday and got a snout full. I was running from a migraine all day yesterday, got up this morning had a couple cups of coffee and heated up my lead pot while I was doing my pushups things were looking good, so I cast up a 100 or so keepers and called it good..
Then I got a migraine aura that went into full migraine and had it most of the day. I lost my left eye during a Migriane in 93 and have no wish to loose the other one, so I am looking for a liquid silicone in town this week.

Go down to the barber shop or the nearest beauty supply house and get cool lube. We barbers use it to lube our clippers. It is a silicone spray. I have been using it to lube pellets & it works great.
I’ve been using silicone on the pellets for a while now. Discovered how well it works after overlubing the breech rings. I use a valve lube made by Dow.

Mike, sorry, something RC mentioned about a week or so ago. MC=McMaster Carr – the better water filter to dry or block the air between the primary booster compressor and the shoebox compressor, to keep the air that goes into the air tube on the rifle from getting moisture in there and causing corrosion. Some guys using Harbor Freight (HF) dessicant type air dryer filters for that, but some guys saying they don’t last long, likely depends how humid or cold the air is where you compress it. I live in a foggy coastal rain forest , so I need to keep my air dry bigtime.

I am just about of FP-10 and have been looking for slick 50 one shot spray lube without success around here. I have a spray can of silicone lube from prestone. Think I will give it a try. 😉

Very cool that the fire lapping process enables more consecutive shots before cleaning required.
I got my 17 and 88 CF tanks from Airhog yesterday……chomping at the bit and can hardly contain my anticipation. Gonna order the MC element water block filter next week after bills paid. Along with some silicone spray! Makes sense it keeps down the friction and decreases fouling. Gotta get some of that for sure

Hit the local Radio Controlled model shops, you should be able to find some there, probably in the form of shock oil for RC cars.
