Q:

silly me – cricket stuff

So I decided to drill vent holes in my .22 crickets suppressor like Hoot did on his .25, but first I thought I would remove the “aluminum” rear cap so that I could clean out any aluminum bits from the drilling the holes and possibly add some scotch bright to dampen noise. I couldn’t get the rear cap to budge so I thought I would heat it a bit to loosen the (assumed) lock tight. Carefully heating the suppressor high above a torch flame I suddenly saw smoke and though, crap! I just burned the powder coating. Nope… the back cap is black plastic. Fortunately no real damage was done. Has anyone been able to remove the rear cap on a Cricket suppressor? Mine still won’t budge… despite the heating:)

Will do Hoot. Thanks!

The Cricket shroud has plastic caps front and rear, and they are epoxied on. I’ve only seen one opened up and it had been sawed open.

Basically the front half of the shroud is baffled. The back is empty.

Don’t worry about aluminum cuttings. Just drill with the shroud over the drill and go slowly. The shavings drop down.

Tape the shroud tube and spray the end cap with truck bed liner and it will not show at bit.

The parts breakdown diagram I’ve seen shows the baffles going into the front of the shroud not the rear.

Ha! Got me there! I would have gotten an Edgun… if he could deliver them in less than 2 years, actually tell you when yours might arrive, and have a multi shot 😆

I do have Edgun envy but I suffer from ADD and couldn’t stop myself from hitting the “buy” button:)

Oh that sucks. Maybe you can remake that part from something more substantial such as aluminum, like the Edgun uses.
