Simplifying ones self
So around this time last year I got the AG itch. I’ve had it before, and was able to scratch it with a Gamo or something similar. But last years itch was bad! First time you ever spend over a thousand dollars on an airgun is kinda nerve wrecking. So it began with an Airwolf, then a Cricket then I sold the Airwolf and bought a Cricket carbine and an Edgun. Then eventually sold the Carbine and was down to the two bullpups.
So for several months I had the Cricket and the Edgun, I don’t know if its some sort of OCD or what but I recently sold my Cricket and I felt a little relieved…? I’m down to just the Edgun and the other day I was doing some plinking and thought…”This is nice, just can leave the one fill probe, just need to maintain the one gun, just can focus all my efforts into one gun.”
I’m not someone to keep something if I’m not using it. But this is a bit different, I was using both the Cricket and the Ed but would get annoyed if say I shot the Cricket and then moved on to the Ed and my groups weren’t as good, or vice versa.
I sold the Cricket because I got an itch for RC Crawlers/Trucks. I hope by the time that itch is scratched the Colibri will have debut and reviews will be abundant…other than that I am completely content with my one Edgun.
Anybody else ever felt good about reducing ones AG collection?

But still I say if I have enough money I will buy it in a heart beat. …and sell rest I have….
I could buy an S&B 3-27… I just don’t see it as being worth twice the price of my S&B 5-25s. Maybe my opinion will change if I get a chance to use a 3-27 but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon. Everyone I’ve spoken to that currently owns an S&B 5-25 feels the same way as I do and doesn’t think the 3-27 is worth 2x the price and they’re sticking with their 5-25. I almost bought a 3-27 a couple months back but bought two more 5-25s instead and outfitted two more rifles. I’m quite happy with my 5-25s & 3-20s.
If I had a place around to frequently shoot very long range (think 2000M+ with something like a .338 Lapua) then the S&B 3-27 does have one big advantage over the S&B 5-25 in that it has more available elevation travel and is available with a 36 mil DT elevation turret; the 5-25s are limited to 26 mils of elevation due to the turret design. 26 mils of elevation will get you WAY out there, but some of the extremely long range shooters are beyond that 26 mil limit. However, the new Nightforce BEAST 5-25 has 35 mils of elevation and is half the price of the S&B 3-27 and would also get the job done. It’s a non-issue for me right now anyways as the longest range I can shoot at on a regular basis is 1400Y.
I still have 3 rifles I’d like to sell to slim down even more… but I probably won’t until the next “market fluctuation.”
