Q:

Slight Modification to NC Edgun R3 shroud

Hello All,

Midyear I asked Neil to make me a replacement shroud for my R3 .25 cal. He made me one almost like Hoots. A carbon fiber unit which screws onto the end of the barrel and hold every nice and tight.

Today I decided to add a small grub screw at the breech end so that the shroud will not unscrew from normal usage. My normal use I mean attaching and detaching the LDC. Think of it as a locking screw.

I used a #8-32 drill and tap as well as a #8-32 x 1/4″ set screw. Since the collar is aluminum, it was a snap.

I choose the 12 o’clock position so I had to cut down an allen key to tighten the set screw.

Just wanted to share if anyone is interested. Here’s my gun in all its glory 😉

thanks!!

HOot does your gun’s shroud loosen up like’s Gabe’s?

Thanks again for the info Gabe!

Sir Hoot,

Yes it is!

Gabe

The 30 cal is nice and quiet out the front but you need an ear plug for the slap. I will probably do something about that just so I don’t have to put in an ear plug to shoot each time.

quote Hoot:

Is it hammer slap/pellet impact quiet like mine? This is without a doubt the quietest Edgun I have ever owned. I’ll gladly pay the length penalty
to get the silence I need!
