Sling Configuration for My New .25 R3

I found this item while browsing and it seems like a good piece. It has an accomodation for a sling integrated on the rail.

For some reason I didn’t like the way it looked so I switched it back to the way I first had it. If I decide to use a sling, I’ll probably switch it around or fit one of these:

I put on an Accu-Shot BT 17 4 inch rail on the forearm. Here is how it looks.

I used brass threaded inserts that I picked at my local hardware store.

On Monday, I’m expecting my atlas bipod.

I got the weaver rail from local tactical shooting store. It’s solid and flat on backside. I looked at a few ways to attach rail;embedded anchors,screw in anchors,bolt through flange. Everything needed big holes and to me would look like crap and be overly invasive to stock.I opted to go #10 stainless screws. One 3/4″ other 1″.
The longer screw continues into bridge support in stock cutout. Predrilled stock,little bit of wax on screw and it’s rock solid.
The Atlas bipod is GREAT;Tilts,base swivels 360* which gives variation in leg adjustment incredible range for terrain and still allows you to track multiple targets without moving feet. I wouldn’t even consider anything else.

Called and talked to Lisa on Mon morning-had it Wed noon.

The front barrel band / mount of the R3 is semi-floating over the air tube to allow for the air tube diameter to change slightly over a fill without affecting point of impact. Since the front barrel band floats over the air tube that means the breech block and barrel along witht the “link” connecting the trigger/front barrel band back to the hammer housing will be supporting the weight of the rifle if you install the sling on the scope rail. Will it work? Yes. Is it ideal? Not in my opinion.

If you want a rail up front along with a sling mount and want the finished product to look really clean and be very functional, here’s my suggestion….

Buy one of these:

Rather than using wood screws to attach the above rail, buy two of these to bolt the rail to and bed them into the front of the stock using a good epoxy:

Buy one of these and bed it into the side of the stock opposite the bolt handle for the rear sling mount:

Finally, buy a sling with QD swivels or buy two of these to add to your current sling:

You now have a rail up front for your bipod that also has a built-in QD cup and you’ve also bedded-in a QD cup in the rear for the rear sling mount. QD sling rings are really quick and sturdy.

Ive been looking at same thing. I added a 5 inch weaver to the undersIde of my stock which has an Atlas bipod attached now. Been debating where to attach a single or dual point. Only to scope rail(single) or dual (scope and new weaver). Pics would be great of you setup.
