Q:

Sling swivels on my Matador R3M standard.

I know where I am going to install the forearm sling swivel stud on my Matador (standard 25 cal) but I cannot seem to make up my mind on where the most practical place to intstall the rear one. Or maybe a “single point” sling is better suited to the EDgun. Can I please have some ideas from you guys on where you install sling swivel studs (or any other ideas for slinging the Matador standard) as I will be slowly walking through about a half mile of hardwoods. A sling of some sort is a must so that my hands are free to wipe spider webs out of my face…lol…..sadly, it’s true. All of our woodlands around this time of year are filled with spider webs. I went metal detecting the other day (at the same place where I’ll be squirrel hunting) and I got several sweaty face-fulls of spider webs. Thankfully, the spiders don’t bite and are harmless. I sincerely appreciate any feedback. Kevin 😎

Kevin,

I’ve installed Magpul type 1 sling mount sockets as shown in the photos below. The OD of the socket is 1/2″. I drilled the stock with a 1/2″ Forstner bit for a clean cut. The socket is set with a bit of epoxy and a wood screw through the bottom of the socket into the stock.

It’s a very clean install and gives sling pick-up points that are useful for an over the shoulder carry.

I was going to say the same thing Tony just did. I like my magpul rail attachment and single point sling. No holes to drill.

Plenty of single point slings to choose from.I have a blackhawk: http://www.lapolicegear.com/blackhawk-storm-xt-sling.html

Kevin go with a single point sling setup. I have a Magpul sling on mine and you don’t have to drill any holes in the stock and its quite comfortable to wear.
