Q:

Slugging question

I slugged the barrel of my Shin Sung 9mm and the exact size is .356.
My question is what would be the proper size to feed this gun ? .357 ?

I shoot Speer 125gr hardcast through my Career barrel.
Made a hammer die to upset the bullets to 0.358ish and then run ’em through a sizer die at 0.357. ( the upset die was intended to go 0.357 but the bullets emerge 0.358″)

These shoot very well through that barrel and will outshoot the RB by 1/2
Good luck there Cadeau 🙂

Yes it is a old tooth brush . After cutting the end off I heated it with a hot air gun and bent it . I have shot .358 through mine but I could not get them to chamber by hand . One other thing I will state is I have resized some bullets and let them set for a month and they have gone back to their orginial size . They were bullets I bought from a local caster and I think they were a harder lead than some . So if you are casting and then resizing make sure you are useing pure lead . I have bought a corbin press and I am going to start to swag my own bullets out of 99 percent lead . Marvin

What he said, I’m using 357 also and they shoot pretty good.

melloroadman 1, what is the tool ? Is it an old toothbrush handle bent to shape ? I’m going to give the .357 an try. I recieved a .358 mold from Lee but it’s casting .359 way too tight ! Guess I’ll have to buy a resizer.

As for round balls, yes the .360’s work great !

If you chamber the bullet only you will get a better idea what to use . When you slug all the way through you get the choke reading at the muzzul end . It is important to get the bullet to fit snug in the chamber so it seals well and will not elong gate in the barrel . If it helps mine has a choked muzzle of .356 and a chamber of .357 and that is the size I use . The .357 is a snug fit in the chamber and requires me to use a seating tool but the rifle is very accurate and has good energy .Here is a picture of my seating tool . You can laugh if you want but it works .Marvin

For slugs I would start with .356 but for ball you can go with .360.
