Yep. Vasilij Zaitsev ( the movie Enemy at the Gates was a glorified story about him) was good at sniping Nazis too.
I am with you guys. The creator may not have known much about sniping and left some huge holes in the documentary. He obviously didn’t see Enemy at the Gates or read Marine Sniper. Hathcock and his commander Land really redefined sniping in modern warfare still used today. 😯
I have to add one guy to the list (not seeing the movie above) and that is the Finn Simo Häyhä (called ” Belaja Smert” or “The White Death” by the Red Army) who hunted Russians in the WW2/Finnish Winter War when Finland was in War against Russia. He did all the shooting in -20 to -40 Degrees Celsius and with open sights. Google the guy.
That was pretty good but, they stopped at WW2 and then they went to SWAT teams.
Just how in the hell could they make a sniper show without at least mentioning the best sniper ever: Gunny Sergeant Carlos Hathcock?
I’ve read a lot of sniper autobiographies from Vietnam thru Iraq and Afghanistan. Almost all of the after Vietnam era books mention Gunny Hathcock as being the best sniper ever.
If you haven’t read the two books about Gunny Carlos Hatchcock: Marine Sniper and Silent Warrior, you need to!
