So Ya’ Wanna Set Up Your Blod Valve Right…?

I’ve seen a few qustions about best weight hammers etc for you lucky chaps awaiting your Brad/Blodnob Valves..

I’ve had the same model Blodvalve for just over 3/4 year(fuck Sean, is it that long??!!) and I thought I would share my thoughts on how to get the best from it. I use it on both .22 and .25

Over here we also need to uprate the main spring but I’m gonna presume the Condor spring you guys use is of the same ilk..

In .25 I use 7.5mm of spacers(you guys have that shitty power wheel) with 96 grams of mixed hammer( Delrin face on 40 grams of bdms with 56 grams of brass extended on that.) 2700psi fill.On a 21 inch 1/16 barrel using 31 grain Klods this produces around 1090 FPS. Which may be a little fast depending on how your barrel behaves.
Top hat never needs to be more than 3mm(whatever that equates to in that crazy old measuring system we left you!!)

In .22 I remove the 56 grams of brass and replace the lost length with spacers + about 5mm for a little more ommph. 2500psi fill. On an 18 inch 1/16 barrel using 21 grain Klods, this produces around 965 FPS, which that barrel likes best. Again, tophat no more that 3mm.

Basically, you can go one of two ways. Super heavy hammer( 100 grams) with less spring tension, or lighter hammer with more spring tension(more on the power wheel.) Both will produce roughly the same results, but have different shooting characteristics. The Heavy set up delivers better consistancy due to it maxing the tophat out each time, but has more ‘recoil’ .
The light set up gives less ‘recoil’ but is relying on the spring to produce the consistancy, which seems less reliable.

Surefire Slugs will see you up to 100 FPE easy.

If I were you, I’d order up a 75 gram hammer ( and not some knarly piece of metal shite from Airforce! The hammer is a MAJOR part of the act and shouldn’t be skimpped on) and play with the power wheel.

You can wind the tophat out more but it doesn’tgive you much power increase, but does start to waste air.
If you want more power, you will have to up your calibre…. The Blod valve is good for it. 😉
