Q:

soft touch on matador

any news on when soft touch coating might be included on the matadors?

if you applied your own textured finish to a wooden stock, please share what you used, its durability, and pics if possible.

TIA

after researching the rattle can finishes(brittle, thin, lacking texture & rubbery feel), i’ll be doing the line-x route if i get a plain jane no grain stock on mine.

line-x even has an OD finish! ive always liked duo-tone OD/Black combos on guns…looks sharp. we shall see!

i like the rustoleum bed liner idea. if it chips or scratches off i think it’d be easy to touch-up.

the line-x coating i have on my truck requires severe trauma to break any of it free. however, an edgun would be destroyed if it was subjected to that kind of force. then again, its soft wood that would cave in if dropped or dinged by a tool…not truck steel.

line-x would be a more durable product than rustoleum but i think the shop would just laugh at me if i brought in a gunstock for a coating. lol

Actually the opposite….I went to one of those places to get a price and the guy told me $60 and everyone was amazed and impressed with my Matador…nobody laughed one bit. I never got it done though, bc I ended up liking the wood grain after a while. . Heck…those guys spray everything from coffee mugs to who knows what there. They had displays of pop cans sprayed to show how durable the stuff is. Besides, who cares what the fuck they think, if that’s what you want. If they don’t like your idea, they can stick the line x up their butts and spray away.

thanks for the update, ed!

We did some of stock painted soft-touch. But due to the braking of the technology the quality wasn’t perfect so we decided to work on the technology. I do hope in the summer time we will be able to produce them again.

A fellow a couple of years ago had his done at a truck bed liner spray company. They did an excellent job! Plus, the commercial application uses a stronger liner than comes from a spray can.

Just ask them…I’m certain they would do it. You might want to tape the sensitive parts so they don’t get coated and throw off the fit tolerances with the action.

I’m thinking of using Rustoleum Truck bed Lining per recommendations from others.

I emailed Ed about the exact same thing but got no response….I never wanted the wood look…when I placed my order it was when the wood was painted with the textured paint….but being hat I waited over a year I got the new R3…..I’d love to paint my stock but would hate to fuck it up and get left with a messed up looking matador stock.
