Solid inexpensive lights for AF rifles
I have had some very good lights in my life on rifles, some were combo laser flashlights that just clipped on rails. Others just lights, they were expensive and around 100 bucks for just the light.
Here is something I came up with, I think I may have gotten the idea here so don’t mean to steal ideas, just passing them on.
I buy the Coleman flashilights, they are just under 30MM so I wrap a couple wraps of tape them. I put them into 30MM rings, one as you can see had a wheel on it instad of the allen screws, it replaces the allen head screw, one seems to work makes it easier to take on and off. It makes it nice to remove and just use as a flashlight.
They are around 100 lumens the lights cost 20 bucks the rings 10 so you get two lights for 50 dollars or 25 bucks each. They are quaility lights made some place called Cheeeena.

if you want a very powerful flashlight with long throw for cheap, look for the ultrafire wf-502B with cree R2 led around 270 lumen, and concentrated beam, add a rechargeable lithium (lc 18650 2400 li-ion 3.7v)
this flashlight is awesome for mounting on a rifle because of its long throw…and the battery with its 2.4Ah has a long runtime…get the li-ion with built in protection circuit as to not over discharge…li-ion dont like to below 3V, if it does chemistry destroys the battery
think i payed 30 bucks for flashlight, 2 batteries and charger, shipped from dealextreme….but it takes like a month to arrive just so you know
i got something like 10 of the costco flashlights they are freaking awesome…20 bucks with tax for 3, including batteries
my only gripe is the battery…it uses AAA’s and it has to be lithium or alkaline….i tried with rechargeables and it wont work…just flashes red
beam is not tight….but it is powerful….i remember my first led i got from YN, a 20 lumen thing, and in a dark forest it was more than enough to guide me out of the woods…. these puppies have allmost 10 times the power, but dont expect to illuminate something beyond 50 yards, it will throw the light further but too much spread … even if it had a 270 lumen cree it couldnt do it
you cant exchange led in it…it uses a system totally different from what the chinese flashlights found on dealextreme uses
the beam spread is supposed to be adjustable…but it doesnt make much of a difference….
it allways starts at 50% power…this is a switched system that turns the led on and off so fast you cant see it….but hold it up to a fan and you can see it….at 100% its still going on and off, just much faster
strobe light is pretty useless , but if you have 3-6 flashlights strobing you can make your own disco strobe light….kid found it funny that he all of a sudden was in slow motion
batteries dont last that long….they say 4 hours on 50%, more like 2
i have looked for alternative batteries like lipo and so on, but missing springs and weird lenght in the compartment makes it impossible
still these are great and for the price cant be beat….everyone should have these stashed around the house and in car
