Q:

some questions i hope can be answered

sorry if i ask a lot of questions but i am young (15) and i hear about some of the stuff everyone talks about to improve their gun and i don’t understand some of it….

first off to vent the front bushing does it matter on the size of the hold and does it matter how many holes you make and the placement of the holes and spacing? i see on talon tunes he has the holes going a little over halfway around the bushing and then 2 out in the open?

second why would you get a heavier hammer like what is the purpose of it?

when you bore and port? a valve does that let more air go through? cut back on air? i know you get higher velocity by doing that

i hope i don’t annoy anyone with all my questions but i like to learn and i am interested in this and i am hoping to eventually mod my talon that i am getting in the future

yeah ive had my shadow for about 4 years before that i used my crosman pumpmaster 760 aka chipmunk eliminator lol which i got when i was about 7 yeah im really excited to get the talon its a pain to sight in a scope with the shadow

i got my dad to buy me the shadow and pump master cause he got me into air guns he has like a 1970 daisy

my mom is buying the scope for a late b day present so its not too bad 170 bucks…. 😀

I also started with a gamo shadow 1000, Had it for about 3 years before getting my SS. It feels SO NICE to shoot a gun without any recoil, and not having to move the gun from the bench when loading is also a big plus. The best thing you can do is get your parents interested in the gun, and have them buy the stuff for you 😀 worked for me. 😛

yeah i wasnt planning on doing any of that stuff too soon only 15 years old, don’t have the money after buying the gun, pump, and a Bushnell legend scope thats about 850$ bi-pod was next in line then upgrades im sure i will let everyone know what i want to upgrade before i do it see what everyone has to say 🙂 and im getting the .22 talon i already have a .177 gamo shadow and i want the 18 inch barrel way cheaper than buying the ss and buying the 18 inch, then a shroud to shut it up again

get it first- bet you’ll enjoy it enough stock – for a long while before you go drillin anything. The ss is quiet on power wheel setting 5-6 and below for the first 30-35 shots on a 3k psi fill standard tank, plenty power for 25-35 yard knock downs at those settings- in .177– tons of shots…. 😀

oh ok that snswered all of my questions for now you have been really helping bikincrazy thank you! 😀

I would hold off on venting the bushings, unless you REALLY need it to be quit. The holes don’t go all the way around because the set screw holes are in the way.

The purpose of a heavier hammer is to open the valve faster, you usually only do this with a condor high flow valve. If you do this with a standard valve it will just smack into the valve body, unless you get a stronger return spring.

Boring the valve stem will let more air out but will also lower the shot count a little.
