Sound-loc

Hey what do you guys now about the baffling that Airforce is about to bring to market? I wonder how effective this is….

Yep… that’s how its done!

I’ve only done one rifle frame venting and I think it works good 😎
But H00T made me curious so I took a look at it…

I used a 3/64″ drill so put in 5 holes just in front of the rear bushing. They dump into the recess in the front half of the forend.
After a couple thousand shots you can see the lead dust build up around the cleaner direct blast of air…

H00T, is this somewhat how you do it ❓

My 12″ .177 is very quiet but I have tuned it way down for medicinal purposes 🙄

quote AirgunOsoris:

I got one last week. To be honest, it doesn’t work all that well. It only really seems to be effective in my .25 Talon SS with hi-flo tank when I’ve got the power dialed down to about 2. When I up the power to around 8 or 10 it’s pretty loud. I think they are charging way too much for a product that isn’t really all that effective.

May I suggest venting the area behind the K baffles and front vented barrel bushing? You might be amazed at the difference.

Vent them downward, into the forearm to help muffle the air release. If needed, add a layer or two of felt between the shroud and forearm.

This isn’t brain surgery. Any drill and a bit 1/16″ will do. I suggest starting with four holes and allowing no more than six.

I’ve done this many times and it works by allowing a significant reduction in air pressure hitting the baffles up front.

This design is older than dinosaur turds.

Of course it will be more effective than a simple cup baffle. Subssonic’s modified K baffles have worked wonderfully for me. He recently indicated an interest in
making them again. His prices will be no more expensive than PA, so I’d get a set of his baffles. Just drop him a PM and see if he’s willing to mill out a few for you.

Price isn’t so bad. I already have a subsonic gen 1 insert with a vented bushing. I wonder if this will be any better.

It’s on the market I have one preorder so once I get it I will let you know 😎
