Q:

Spinloc snap ring ears & spanner wrench

I picked up a used TalonP and toying with it first before shooting. It’s a spinloc model which I never owned before. I noticed the pistol did not come with a spanner wrench and diagrams in the manual shows “snap-ring ears” which seem to hold the spinloc collar onto the rear of the receiver.

Does anyone know if the TalonP uses snap ring ears? Also are there small spanner wrenches available from Home Depot or a hardware store to tighten the collar?

Just a bit of FYI…got a call back from Airforce. Basically the TalonP for the past year or so has a slight mod on the frame dimension where the spinlock collar sleeve is inserted into; hence, there is no need for the spinlock ring ears….just need the spanner wrench and tighten down the grub screw to hold the sleeve in place.

The spanner wrench is $6.96 plus S&H FWIW.

You can get a spanner wrench from Air Force if you contact them. They will probably sent it to you at no charge. I didn’t know they were called “snap ring ears” but what the manual is talking about is the flat steel tab that is on the spin loc collar ( directly behind the face of the collar that you would tighten with the spanner wrench.
The two little tangs ( ears?) that protrude from this tab, lock on to the frame of the gun to prevent the spin loc collar from pulling through the frame when tightened.
Hope this helps!
