from what i gathered playing with my bigbore talon in .308 and 457, dont use moly ! it helps nothing
grease is not needed either, pure lead is the way to go ! best speeds and accuracy, deformation
ask butcher about greased bullets how they can turn a rifle into a smooth bore, hehe

It doesn’t reduce fouling, increase accuracy, improve barrel life, or have any other proven benefit. (centerfire rifles)
I don’t think anybody winning matches is using it.
Once you get moly in your bore, it’s a bitch to get out.
The aerosol sprays will not stick to bullets, it will rub off. You would need to tumble coat them, or buy allready coated bullets and reload them yourself.

Well, that’s a different can of worms.
Moly coated lead bullets are still sorta popular with handgun competetors on-the-cheap. It’s more of a “moly paint” than the more pure moly lubes diluted in a solvent for aerosol cans, and is applied by the bullet manufaturer. I played with them for a while in 9mm handguns, but I didn’t like the fouling of my reloading dies so back to FMJ.
If the barrel maker / rifle manufacturer says use it, I wouldn’t argue too much.
a lil KY his and hers would work lol and it would make your gu go AHHHHHH put the his on the bullet and the hers in the bbl when you insert the bullet it will be magic 😆 😆

I use rem oil with teflon oil.

Thats just what was recommended to me for my soon to be here .308.

Yellow Ninja: why not use krytech dry wax lube.
Is moly a better lube, or just more economical.

Yea that gunk had me running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off for most of the hunt, trying to figure out why my tack-driver of a 909, which shot on zero perfectly when I first got there, was shooting worse and worse as I shot it more and more. Shot over the head of a 250 or so lb. wild boar at about 10yards. !!STRESS!!
Leroy finally looked thru the barrel, and laughed out loud, saying it was the most fouled barrel he had ever seen in his life. Passed it around for everyone to see, and got a “Holy Shit” out of everyone. You could hardly tell there was any rifling in there at all.
Granted, the lube was extreme (black powder cowboy action lube), and the gunkiest I have ever seen or heard of, but it was enough to turn me off to the whole lube idea. Soft/pure lead is pretty slick in itself. Plus, I don’t want to risk something hard sticking to the lube, then scratching-up my barrel.
There has got to be a better way to “condition” a barrel. I don’t know enough about barrels to see why a new one would need several hundred shots to “conditioning” it. Someone please explain that to me. What is accomplished with this conditioning?
My SamYang barrel shot great from the get-go with no special treatment. I did shoot a couple dozen shots using Bore Butter initially, but gave it up due to the mess. I really do not understand how it would have “conditioned” a barrel. Would cleaning the barrel de-condition it? I’m real curious about that.
Using lube seems like a big headache overall.
