I carried a Spyderco for years, not a butterfly just a good old fashion folder. I loved that knife and I think I shed a single tear when I lost it and then I shed two more when I found out the no longer made that model.
why are you going for a butterfly?
I bought a spyderfly as soon as they became available.
Love the knife, but sold it because in the end I look cooler opening an automatic than a bali….
That Spyderfly was the reason I had a few bronze washer’s to put in my condor’s trigger – balisongcollector recommended them for the spyderfly on his website and they fit perfectly in my condor to reduce side to side play…

are you looking for something that just stays real sharp or something that will take whatever you throw at it ? if you are just cutting boxes etc. why not ceramic?
I want something that looks slick and is good for actually cutting stuff. I have a few good looking knives, but after cutting tape on a box the edge is comparable to the blunt side of a butterknife. So this looked good.
VG-10 is a decent steel for cutting, assuming it’s properly heat treated (and I would assume that’s true for a Spyderco product). Not as good as some of the premium steels, but very good compared to the cheaper ones that a lot of the mass market knives use.

Plus I’ve always loved the balisongs. No better locking system than that.
