ST barrel blank… Great Odin’s Beard!
Just got an email back from AoA finally. I asked about the cost/availability of a ST .30. ESTIMATED cost of the blank is $250. Jeeze. I guess I’ll save my pennies… that’s not even w/machining! 👿 FML :angrymob:

How long did you buy? It is $4.75 a inch and $4.95 for 29″ and up.
Exactly… and we’ve seen evidence of the TJ’s capability at range. Most of the ST stuff is (from what I’ve seen. I’m sure there’s further distances out there) 100 yrds and closer. But the ST has shown accuracy within a certain fps range, and within a certain distance. If FX (more than likely AoA) would reduce the price of their barrel blanks, they would surely be a heavy contender in the barrel market. (Is that a TJ quote for a .30? They have gone up- I bought mine for $90, not including shipping over a year ago…)
A 24″ barrel from TJ’s is only $114 plus shipping. LW is $110 I think but not sure anymore because I will never buy another. They are just gouging there customers.
I wonder why these companies (FX, Daystate) don’t realize they would make way more money, off the sheer volume of sales, than they do going through a distributor… I mean, between us here on the TAG, and the GTA alone, and on a Canadian Forum, that’s a lot of tinkerers, on just this side of the pond!! At $100 a barrel, they’d make more money I’m sure… I mean hell, $150 would be okay- but just under $300?! I mean, I’d understand a barrel from Benchmark or some custom barrel maker sure… Hell, even TJ has pretty reasonable prices (and those have gone UP!!). :angrymob:

I wonder what FX would charge… do they even sell to the public?
That’s AoA for you. I was told the barrels cost about the same as a LW blank which is right around $100. Just means they are over charging for them because it is the only place you can get one.

Over a year now… I bought it from Sean Pero, for my .30 Dawson build. 24″ blank. Sean, I believe, is one of the guys who helped get the ball rolling for those TJ .30 AG barrels.
