As far as I know the EDgun was originally developed due to the high demand in Russia for an ‘out of a car window’ crow hunter. And indeed, a couple of inches make ALL the difference if the gun is to be used from inside a car or in a thick brush/woods/restricted areas. For my needs every single inch matters greatly, and that’s why I waited for so long until the Standard length in the .25 caliber became available. And, for optimal accuracy which also matters greatly to me, I don’t need velocities above 900 fps.

🙂

I would have voted for the Long because a 25 cal wasn’t available in the standard. I think that the 25 beats the 22 for hunting.

That has changed since Ed is starting to offer the 25 cal in the standard. He says that the 25 cal standard gets 30 regulated shots at 950 fps. I think that it would get around 40 shots if it was turned down to 880-900 fps.

At just a shade under 33″, the long isn’t really that long.

Hunting… Standard or short for mobility unless you plan on a starling slaughter and don’t want to refill in the field.

I have a long on order. More of a target shooter myself but I am in process of moving to a 12.6 acre property with an incredible population of voles, chipmunks and pest birds, tree rats are plentiful but not a problem YET but we are planting 6 acres of pine ‘forest’ so hunting/pesting opportunity will increase but still within a 5 minute walk of a refill. The long was a target shooting decision – I don’t shoot a couple of groups, I shoot for a few hours. the fewer refills the better

Standard

I’d go long. The extra shots and velocity you get are worth the few extra inches. Even with the added length it is still more compact than the vast majority of guns.
