Q:

Stewed Barrel

Hello guys TAG.

I would like the opinion of you.

My condor has a pipe 24 “, however since I bought realize that after about 5 cm of where you put the pellet there is a kind of stuffing.

I found out when I make the cleaning of the barrel with a brass rod and the tip of a cotton tuft soaked in wd-40. I stuck the rod by the end of the pipe after spending the choke, cotton went tight missing a 5cm to get into the breech, is loose cotton and the end of the pipe is tight again.

I’m thinking of machining that pipe and remove that part of the barrel what they tell me, they think it may affect the accuracy.

Detail, 25m it is half an inch grouping.

I’m doing well in the Field target, however for benchrest is not good.

Can it be that what affects the accuracy ??

following picture of what I gather it is.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my English.

So I already pushed one pellet down the barrel and realize 5cm after the breech it gets a little loose, then all along the barrel it is typical tightening more at the end (“shock” do not know if this is how it writes).

I shot him a few times in the regulation of maximum power, and always with soft lead pellet type JSB.

You’re right 5cm lose a barrel 24 “is not much .. I will be machined and redo the breech.

Once you get some result I turn to say ..

ps: I would like to install a new barrel, put a new barrel of AF condor (like the 4.5mm) here costs almost $ 1,000.
I’ll wait and see a store there in the USA sent to Brazil a new barrel.

You might want to slowly push a pellet through to confirm the “stuffing”, which, I’m guessing = an improper bulge/increase of bore in the barrel. If there is, indeed a widening, that far from the breech and after a pellet has been conformed to a narrower diameter, the pellet will rattle and deform a bit because it will have room to go off center. Or, worse case, the pressure causes the skirt to expand against the diameter of the bulge and resize as it shrinks again. Sounds like a defective barrel.

Shotguns which have been exposed to excessive pressure from high powered rounds can get this bulge. In those cases, the barrels are ruined. You may notice a slight drop in velocity, but 5 cm is not much to lose on a 24″ barrel. In any case, you’ll need to recreate the breech if it’s cut off. There may be other problem areas in that barrel, if you already found one issue. I would try installing a new barrel.

Your English is good, but I may be misunderstanding details.

Good luck!

Yes already has a altaros regulator.

The issue is off in the barrel

If there is no regulator, that’s the biggest issue. you can play with the hammer spring, pressure, etc., but a regulator is most useful for consistent speeds and tighter groups.
