stock finish
anyone who removed the lacquer from the stock, I would like to oil it.

I had a picture here but removed it because, after seeing it everybody would be messing up their otherwise perfect stocks

I have stayed away from the checkering, … was using a knife !!! hehehe and steel wool and sandpaper and fine lapping paper on the stock only.
I have one in fine and one in coarse to handle both groves……
OK job done. the end result is really nice but lot of work.

What I do Kris is after I refinish my stocks Is I get out my re-checkering tools and recut the checkering. Then I apply my finish. Dresses it up real nice.
You need a bit harder brush – like the one you use when washing vegetables. I use a very stiff nylon brush or even one with copper brushes.

Nothing better, except, of course, drinking. I’ll easily strip your stock just by pissing on it.

True and tested while the RB claim is false advertizing. Never seen any RB drinking punk get any wings no matter how drunk i’ve been.

I myself like oiled stocks far better than lacquered ones. Just use some good paint/lackquer remover and get on with scrubbing.

I just don’t like lacquered stocks so for me it’s not “fine as is”.
I need to do the stripping and oiling one of these days .. 🙁
OR i could buy a new, unfinished / lacquered stock from Evgeny .. Decisions ..
