Q:

Stock Hat

My stock Top Hat, is pretty damn far out. Even just looking at it it’s far out. I can see about half of the little alan screw head that holds it! So, let’s say I’m to lower it; Then there would be a smidgen of a “rim” sealing it! Hello?

I just measured my Top Hat @ 3 MM! I heard that as far out as 7 MM was common for a stock HAT. I bet this has to do with the awesome performace of my gun as well! What an AWSESOME “machine”/TOOL,
this is that I have..!

Yep, about 2 dimes or so.
Right now, I’m happy. This A.R. is so good that I’m cool with it. Mostly 😀

If you mean that when the breech slide is on the tophat that you can see 1/2 teh setscrew….. no big deal.
measure teh gap from the tophat to valvebody….. 0.075″ or thereabouts is a good number say two dimes together…..

Walter….

Ya, half of the little screw in the Hat shows (it’s tight). I mean like part of the Hat shows all the way up to the alan. +. I’ve seen guns that the whole top hat is covered! But I don’t have the soft chrony on my laptop yet. I’ts an old laptop and has some problems… So, I’m not gonna touch the Hat untill I’m further.

Thank you, guys

sounds what you are saying is the slider is not coming down very far possibly not seating fully

As long as it is not so far out that the breech cannot be rotated into the “locked” position, it should be fine. Wouldn’t mess with it without a chrony. If the breech doesn’t go into the lock position, then adjust the th down until it does.

Do you have a chrono graph?

If you do not just leave it alone.
