Q:

STOP/ROT

I got in a hurry several times and short stroked the hammer cocking 😳

On at least 2 occasions it resulted in feeding a second pellet into the breech. The 2nd pellet takes more effort to close the breech. So the manual says go abead and shoot in a safe direction. I did it once while using the chronograph and got slightly less than 1/2 the normal velocity.

Actually there is a work around and you will know when you need to do it because the first indication of having short stroked the loading will be when you pull the trigger and find it doesn’t fire. If you re-cock at that point you will feed the 2nd pellet into the barrel.

To avoid feeding a second pellet simply slide the STOP/ROT Slide to the STOP position and THEN re-cycle the cocking mechanism. This time fully pull the mechanism the full length of the slot. The hammer will cock and the magazine is prevented from ROTating another pellet to be chambered. After the shot you will need to return the STOP/ROTate slide back to ROT.

OK, so I’m a dummy but eventually I catch on :butkick:
PS: I know that I’m not the only dummy

You are right. The magazines have the necessary holes and indentations. Just the action is not ready anymore to use them.

I think rotation locking can be built into the magazine. How about that? Let’s create a petition to bring that back!

The lack of rotation locking ability is pretty bad. I want to keep the gun preloaded for shooting:
1. Cock the gun.
2. Insert the magazine.
3. Push the cocking rod forward.
4. Pellet is in the barrel.
Now if I want to decock the gun I need to pull the cocking rod backward, remove the magazine and drop the hammer by guiding it with a cocking rod. The gun is decocked, pellet is in the barrel, but the magazine is not in the gun. I need to shoot the gun and place the magazine again. If I forget about the pellet in the barrel I will end up with double loading.

THAT IS INSANE. Don’t you think? Totally impractical.

It is all because of the geniuses. Keyser, you are not the only one. RTFM (Read The Fu****g Manual) if you do not know how the things work.

Please do not tell me that there is a safety in this gun so that I can keep the gun cocked. Firstly, the safety blocks the trigger, not the hammer so for me it is like no safety. Secondly, the spring is compressed when the gun is cocked which shortens its lifetime.

I am totally disgusted how such an important feature could be removed from the gun. I have no words for that. One big step backward for me.

Yep, pretty much sums up my thoughts too. Sure wish mine had the feature. I sure like this feature on my Crickets and got used to hunting with them using the manual advance mode for the magazine. I wish someone like Ernest would come up with a mod to add this feature back to the Vulcans… Was a stupid thing to remove in the first place.

The advantage of double loading is that you have a better chance of hitting your target!!!

Sorry

Keeeeyser! There is no such feature in the gun anymore. Because of you man, because of you!

eelect,
I hadn’t thought about that before.
I had been just fireing with an empty chamber at the end of use to release the hammer spring tension and rendering it safe.
I wouldn’t want to leave a pellet chambered but I see now that the airgun can be de-cocked by holding and slowly moving the cocking arm (bolt) forward, while pointed in a safe direction of course, and pulling the trigger.

I also want to add that I have left the bolt in lock position twice overnight. I pull back bolt to take clip out and forget to decock bolt / hammer spring

You got that right edlect.
On my third trip to the range I racked one pellet into the gun and when it didn’t fire I realized the STOP selector would allow me to cock the hammer fully without feeding a second pellet.

Tomorrow should bea forth time so we’ll see if I have learned to properly cock and load the Vulcan.

Today was two good meals outdoors with my neighbor lady. Last month this Central NW county in Ohio had the most rain on record for a June. The range is still soggy but not as muddy as it was. 317 shots through the .22 Vulcan so far. Mostly 1/2″ x 3 shot groups at 50 yards are very encouraging to me. I’m beginning to relax and get off my shot with less effort. I love this Vulcan. I found paper at 100 yards but need more mil dots. Had to shoot the dirt backstop to determine the amount of holdover.

Shows to go ya that a Vulcanized Dummy can either pick things up on his own or learn from another Vulcanized Dummy :8:

While the rest of the world is remains in the dark :banghead:

Nope you’re the only one. The rest of us are perfect and we have never “short stroked” anything including Vulcans. :butkick: :butkick:

So how about this for dummies. I thought the gun was broken when I first got it. The gun was so new when I got it I don’t think the dealer even knew what ROT was for. I’m cycling the bolt and nothing is coming out. I am thinking god damn I just blew 1500 bucks on an unproven gun. Then I can’t get the magazine out. So I have learned at this point I need to put the gun down and walk away. I come back to the Vulcan a few minutes later and for some reason at this time the ROT button was in clear sight and everything made sense. I turned the gun back to ROT and everything was right as rain
