The only thing I have that leaks is me. 😆

Must be an age thing. 😉

quote knifemaker:

Mine has never leaked or dumped, but many here have!

Some companies say that it takes a certain amount of pressure to close the valve. Especially the first time. Many new owners of the M’Rod had this problem when it first came out.

Mike

that is called a leaker 🙂
if it continues to be a problem after the first fill then it needs fixing.
good to hear yours doesn’t leak.
a dump has other explanations to it other than leaving charged or not

Leaker? And what happens to our guns when they get too low on air. BIG FAST LEAK!!! 😯 😉

you should get that looked at and fixed wouldn’t you say?

mine don’t leak

Merry Christmas Walter!

I had always heard store them full, and did without ever thinking about it. Never even considered the pressure it takes to open the valve. The things you learn here!

If a gun won’t seal with a hand pump it is a leaker and will likely be empty if stored for an extended period.

Follow your heart…………… 🙂

Merry Christmas fellows!

thanks , the answer is to store it with some air. kingpin

Many companies recommend that you store with SOME air pressure in them. Fx, M-rod, Daystate, Rapid and others.

Several owners of M-Rod’s have had problems getting a seal with a hand pump when a fully discharged gun arrives new. Since then, Crossman ships with Some air in the tank. It expands the seals, and prevents leaks when new.

Let the Walter, uh I mean Rant Begin. 😆

I have found this to be true with my large compressor on the shop as well. There fore, I never drain it completely.

Your results may vary .

I have no doubt that Walter has more experience than the manufactures. I mean, he is Walter! 😀

only oring on an airforce is the bottle neck seal and it could care less if there was pressure as it is tightly captured.

Um, point of parliamentary procedure…you forgot about the breech o-rings.

Yes, they have nothing to do with tank pressure, but if I was laying my gun up for an extended period, I’d make sure they were properly siliconed to keep them pliable.

Your avatar makes it real hard to argue with you, did ya know that? 😆

I should have expounded upon my “best”…. best as in a conservation of effort, not because there will be any ill effects either way that I’ve ever had experience with.

quote Yellow Ninja:

If you empty it… it will use air (or effort)… when it becomes time to refil them. So as it wont hurt it to keep it stored with air, I do.

you betcha. no troubles at all 🙂

If you empty it… it will use air/effort/time… when it becomes time to refil them. So as it wont hurt it to keep it stored with air, I do.

I have had a few guns that will be empty after extended periods so it didn’t much matter and I would do as Walt said and just refill when I planned on shooting them next rather than refill (or empty completely) to store.

quote Dcnlarry:

Maybe it is to protect the O rings, I am not an expert, just saying. Why not leave it charged, less to do when you are ready, and I can’t see why leaving air in it would hurt.

You got it 🙂

makes no difference.

only oring on an airforce is the bottle neck seal and it could care less if there was pressure as it is tightly captured.
The Delrin valve seal may actually prefer no pressure but in reality pressured or not static is the easiest service it will see compared to the pounding it takes when shooting.

after shooting my PCPs get put away with whatever is in them from half full to ready to recharge to empty. I see topping up as a waste of air if it happens to seep out 🙂

Enjoy, do whatever you like and learn from the experience. Then someday even Mr Lama will want an avitar like mine! thanks Lama!!!!
