Subsonic insert
Does anyone have a subsonic insert that could send a pic and measurments to me. I read on here that his was a great design and very quiet.

will this be your gen2 talon ss inserts that you will be selling off?
They are the gen2 style but they are 1.07 in dia and will not fit in the frame with out modification…..

Im glad that the first response to this was what it was but i unfortunatly with the way things are going im not going to be able to spend the needed time with family and work and provide the level of service to my customers… So I will be selling off my inventory (which includes about 25 shroud baffles 1.07 in dia.) at a good deal since i have always been one who gives a discount on large orders…. Welcome to the darkside, or as I call it sometimes, the airgun journey. If you have removed the endcap from your SS and shot it once, then you know how loud it can be. Therefore, AF is bieng truthful stating that the SS model is quieter than their other models. However, the TSS in stock form is way too loud for most backyards…as you have found out. The springs, washers, and hair curlers are crude, but effective and these designs are can be built from a home depot run; not every has a lathe, or mill. By all means, seek a design that achieves your goals. You will invariably find yourself copying different designs. That’s kind of what this section is about…sharing what works and what doesn’t.
Have you vented your FRONT bushing? That really helps.
We really frown on the individuals who are so obviously trying to steal designs for commercial use. Especially those who from the pacific rim who are best know for producing cheap copies of great designs. (I didn’t directly say china, did I?) 😉

If the insert/shroud is for personal use, don’t worry much if its a “stolen” design. We have seen just about everything in design ideas, and imitation is the highest form of flattery so they say. 😉
Anywho, heres an insert I made for my .22 SS that works great with a 12″ barrel. Its simple and effective and “stolen” from some photos of Blodnobs work. I never make these for anyone other than myself, so its a non-issue as far as I’m concerned.
Bottom photo has an aluminum insert with 5 chambers and no external can (sort-of visible at bottom). Shorter and nearly as effective.
No, the parts didn’t go exactly to scale with the drawings. I hurried them thru the shop lathe and mill after hours. I drew it up for aluminum, but made it from delrin so the webs are a bit thicker than planned.

When I bought my SS I thought it would be a little less loud by what AF web sight said. Now since I have been on this site I am learning alot about this rifle. One thing I still have questions about is::::What is benifit of shroud. I like the short SS but also want power and accuracy. I don’t know which way to go. Shroud or Insert. I don’t want to build a baffle with curlers and washers. or steal someone’s insert design. I wave been reserching things and have came up with a design if kinda 3 different tubes in one. I plan in putting a 18″ barrel in my SS and i know I will have to shroud it then. Just getting into this so I have to start at the bottom and work way up to what I want my SS to become. Between muzzle and first baffle, anywhere from .75″ to 1.5″ will work fine. I prefer shorter to keep as much muzzle blast diverted from the pellet as posible. If shorter, try to make the first baffle a stripper design.
If longer, a flat baffle works.
If you make the insert too long, with some careful thought you could make it shorten-able for a second chance.
I was not trying to copy at all. I am confused about length. I have my own design I want to try but when I look at all the pics of other people and HIS insert in posts it looks as if it dosen’t span from muzzle to barrel. All I was wanting to know is length. I meant no harm or to step on ant toes just trying to get my SS a bit more quiet with-out washers and curlers like I was told to try. Sorry for any problems.
so it sounds like you’re looking to copy his design…. how about you just wait till his family matters are all dealt and finished up with then pay the man to build you one??? after all he is the one that did all the research as well as testing and tweaking till His insert was working up to a par that is worthy of his name….
just my two cents, but we’re not too keen on copy cats here in these parts 😉

This is terribly unfortunate. And I know this is 4 years late.
it’s ironic that with current technology the designs can just be printed from your original CAD drawings if you have them.
