Super Sniper Scopes
Does anyone have any experience with these? I am ordering an EDgun and saw it was recommended as a good match. Just wondering if any of our members have used them.

I got the chance to look at a Barska today. It had a pretty good picture.
It had a problem if you got just a little off center while looking thru it. It suffered complete white out. And this was in rainy conditions! Ouch!!! I’ve seem manyh scopes go to black with slight head movement,
But never a slight movement of the head cause a scope to go milky, tmuch less solid white with just a bit more. It was just wierd. A lot like scopes from the 50’s.
Also looked at a lower cost Nikko 4.5×16 (same as the Barska.) I was surprised at the picture in such a low cost scope! Not bad at all. Neither of them had really good color rendition, 🙁 but the Nikko was really crisp. 😀

I guess you guys are right, Tachdriver & knifemaker, that’s probably the best route. I guess it was just wishful thinking in that I could find a ‘deal’ and not be disappointed.

You find a lot of lower price and quality scopes advertised at a much higher priced and reduced. It makes them appear to be a killer deal. Same with cheap watches in the back of magazines. It’s a sales gimmick. Staure sell watches this way in up-scale magazines. It will sell you a production over run, 5000.00 USD watch for only 299.00. Yeah right. If the factory sells it for 299. it is a 299. retail product.
Ever see a Rolex from a authorized Roles dealer for 299.? They cost thousands. Not hundreds. Same with good optics. It will sell retail for retail. The discounts on all the sites for cheap scopes are just that. Bunk. They are cheap scopes. There are much better scopes out there, NOT Discounted, with trusted names. They just don’t’ have all the gadgets on them that never work right on a cheap scope in the first place. It’s a scam guy’s! Barska is a –well– so so scope. OK for 200.00 bucks. Better at 135.- to 155.00 It is NOT a 400.00 scope at all. 😉
Youcan buy a REAL Scope, with a solid rep. for 400.00. With a Real warranty. Like a 4200 Elite for instance! 😀
What about Barska scopes? I just found a 4-16×50 IR Tactical for $204.94. It supposedly retails for $428.65. Does anyone have any knowledge of this particular scope? If not, how about Barska in general?

It’s a lot easier to pay 1500 for a gun than a scope. 🙂
Thanks for the help guys! There are definitely a lot of good ones out there, it’s hard to decide. I have some time though due to the wait for the EDgun. It would be a lot easier if I could find one scope that has fired everybody up like the EDgun has.

I’ve owned several of the SS series. You have to know what you are getting. There were different production runs and some were made at Japan Optical Works under contract for Tasco, which were excellent quality and would beat stuff 3x their price. Others were contracted out under the same name, but built in 3rd world and they kinda sucked. I tried them for awhile but because the production at that time was limited to fixed 10x (I wanted only the JPO scope and that’s the one they made), it cramped my hunting style too much as you can’t do snap shots on 10x. Sold the scope and went to Mark 4. But good glass for the money.
