Q:

Supersonic

I have a Condor in .177, the only caliber allowed here, I get best results using Crosman Premier 10.5 grain if I keep them bellow supersonic speeds. BUT to do this I must fill my tank to 130 Bar only and I only get about 15 good shots this way.
So, does anybody know the best way to decrease the power without half filling the tank?
I heard of adjusting the top hat, how much will that decrease the power? Is there any other way?

I though of getting a regulator but I want to keep my costs low. Anything will be greatly appreciated.

I have to say, that .cz site’s regulator is dead simple to install.

well if you had a chrony , i would say fill the gun and shoot thru the chrony while shooting groups, and when your groups tightened up pulll the bottle an see where your psi is on your bottle, this would be your peak filll for your accuracy and consistency, then just fill above this psi slightly and shoot for a 30 shot string or so.15 shots above the peak and 15 below.

you can still do this, just will not know when your fps tightens up,except when your groups tighten it should be the same for your fps.

it’s hard to do without a chrony , but you can make a go of it, your power wheel should be close to what you need ,shoot a string then adjust it up slightly then a string then adjust it down, and compare.

quote powderburner:

you filled to 2400 psi, what is your power wheel and top hat set at.
what was your fps at 2400 fill

My power wheel setting was at 5-1. My top hat setting is factory setting for .177 Condor. I dont have a Chrony 🙁 but 10.5grain pellets are bellow supersonic speeds.

What must I change to improve consistency?

Well I got to test the gun with the o-ring yesterday. The power it absolutely perfect, exactly where i needed it. I only filled it to 170 bar and got over 50 shots per fill!

However, im not yet quite shore about consistency since my groups did open up a bit.
Anybody have any suggestions on what i should do to improve consistency with an o-ring on?

I use a ETAC regulator thingy on two of my guns and it works great. I would recommend them.

However if you do not wish to spend that much you may wish to sell your condor bottle or just the valve and get a regular talon one. I found they work much better at lower power.

condor good night my friend if you want to have a good range of shooting with the airforce condor regulates it in tophat 0.040” you will have powerful shots and a good range of shots, but if you want to further improve purchasing a pressure regulator http://www.altaros.cz site is only talking to the guy Ondrej is also really helpful and will give you some good tips ……. I already bought two for me and only costs 84 euros with shipping included ….. ……

I don’t have a chronograph but I might be able to get access to one, once and a while. I will have to go to the hardware store to get some o-rings and I will start experimenting from there. With different pressures, o-rings and pw settings and post my results if anybody is interested(it will most probably take me some time to get the results 🙁 ). Any other ideas and recommendations are greatly appreciated 😀

oring i use in .071 thick , .434 od. but i am sure others would work fine, i wouldn’t go any thinner .

get some of the bllue loc tite (red package) the non permanant kind ,to put on the grub screws of the top hat after you adjust , so it will not come loose with fireing

Sometimes the simple ideas are the best ones !! Great info….. Of course you could always move to where that Condor is allowed to whatever you want it to. 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

I use an O-ring behind my tophat and it works almost as good as a regulator. You can adjust your tophat and use different sized o-ring to get the gun to do almost anything you want it to.

Trade your Condor tank and valve for a Talon tank and valve.

Use CO2.

Get the micro tank and valve.
