Q:

Taipan mutant shorty stock replacement?

I recently dropped my mutant out on a hunt which resulted in a cracked stock. Any idea where I can find a replacement stock. I have thought about aftermarket stock also, just not real sure if I’ll like it as much as original stock. If anyone has some input on stocks please let me know. Thanks

True that!

Rumor has it that Greg, after he broke up with ladies he dated prior to his marriage, would often receive letters of recommendation from former girlfriends, commenting on his most excellent “wood” handling abilities, and recommending him to any future women who might have need for a hard man with an extensive working knowledge of “wood”, and it’s many useful properties!!!

Skills like this are not an art…they cannot be learned…it is a gift! We are lucky to have him on this forum….

If any forum member has “wood” handling, complex application, or repair situations…Greg is your Go To man!

Thanks I will try to contact foxback just to see. I didn’t have time to post pictures but it is just a hairline crack towards the rear of stock. It runs about an inch or so from rear of stock. The hairline crack is about 8 inches long and fades away as it runs forward. I think the crack is repairable but don’t have much experience with epoxy. Which I might try that after I find a 2nd one as back up. I will try to get pics up this weekend

Before some asshat suggests it…

…being that everyone likens it to a simple lumber yard 2×6…

But seriously,
Michal Osyda was the guy but last I believe I read he no longer makes them???

(WTF, Youtube ban this from embedding too somehow?

Hit up Foxback in this forum, he might have some info…

Or attempt to fix it like GKU suggested.

Hope someone can chime in about a replacement stock.

Is the damage unrepairable …. Post up some pics.
You’d be amazed at the epoxies a wood glue strength are good options out there.
If the damage is still visible sand the entire stock with 220 grit and spray it black out with bed linner spray.
