tallon ss help?
hi im new to the site, and i gonna purchase a TSS .22 cal version and was wondering if my compressor would work to fill it up. and is that the best way of refilling. ive read that people use scuba tanks it that the way to get the most power?..thanx for any responce…..

Expect about 6 full fills with a 3000psig, and twice that with the 3300psig. I use CO2 in my talon SS a fair amount, and that is good if you don’t need big power.
so to get started i need tallon ss, scope, pump, scuba tank,hmm sounds like im missing somthing..if any body has a list of things ill need for a stock ss to get up and shooting i would appreciate it.

You need either a pumpr OR a scuba tank. I suggest getting a scuba tank rated for 3300psig, it will give a lot more fills than a 3000psig tank. This is because you will want to fill your rifle to around 2800psig and you need differential pressure to get a full fill. The Talon SS has a shroud already, and you can use any scope you already have.

A shroud is a definate must have.

You need alot more pressure than that, a compressor rated to fill one of these guns will set ya back around 1500.00 – 2000.00 greenies.
When I bought my first talon I started with a hand pump, then picked up a 3000 psi scuba tank a bit down the road.
I still use the hand pump to top off when the tank gets low.
Now I am looking at a carbon fiber tank that can be filled to 4500 psi, lots more air.
What I’m getting at is understand what your dealing with, if you go the hand pump route get a good one, there is something to be said about AF pumps, although mine is still going strong.
Also look at the long run, a 3000 psi,88cf scuba tank will set you back like 100.00-200.00
If you go to a cf tank its something like 20 of the 3000psi tank but it will cost ya like 600.00
If I did it all over again, still would go with a hand pump, but would have gone straight to a cf tank.
You can get away with a hand pump alone but let me tell you it gets old fast
its rated up to 150 psi.
How many PSI can your compressor put out?
The method you use to fill the gun with air has nothing to do with how much power it has. You merely fill the gun to whatever pressure you want, and depending upon that, and a couple of other adjustments, you get the power you want. You would never fill these guns with over 3000 psi of air, and most people don’t use that much.
I can’t say anything about your compressor, but many find that a scuba tank is the most convenient way. A hand pump will get very tiresome quickly.

I note you have not listed a Scuba Refill Clamp with Gauge (you need one to attach the guns tank to the Scuba tank to do a refill). AirForce has one of the yoke types or you can buy a DIN type from someone like Air Hog. I got a 3442 psi tank which my local shop will fill to 3500psi; gets you a few more fills at 3000 psi. You should probably check with your local shop and see what capabilities they have. Check out the tank prices on the Internet to see rough price ranges and then see what your local shop can do for you – they are much more likely to fill for you without a hassle if you bought the tank from them.
On the other hand, if you are not a big power monger, it costs less to get going with CO2 and you get a lot of shots with a tank. I have a 24″ barrel TSS with CO2 and get 600+ 17fpe shots from a 12 oz tank.
