Talon 22 or 25 … The Choice is yours ?
If you were to get a standard Talon with a 18″ barrel … would you get 22 or 25 ? You think the Talon has enough poop for 25 cal JSB King Heavies at 850fps ? … or would you feel more comfortable with a 22 cal shooting Kodiaks or JSB Jumbo Heavies ?
For general hunting ground squirrels and jacks in the high desert area as a light carry gun ? Would get a R&L shroud for sure !

Well I’m loving my Standard Condor with a R&L shroud and seriously thought about a Talon 18″ barrel in 22 or 25, but … although the Talon is a great gun, for me to get the power I wanted and silent I would need to add a shroud … another 6″ and another 100++ bucks, so bottom line the length would be the same as a Condor SS —— but the Condor will have much more potential power. Depending on the pellet I would probable use I would need to do some valve work on the Talon to get the speed where I wanted it ….. another $$
Was thinking of 25 or 22 for my field gun, and decided on 22 as it will used a bit differently than my 25 caliber Condor with shroud. I also have packs and packs of 22 caliber Kodiaks that also helped me decide on this caliber.
I will set this gun up more for hunting/field shooting than just a bench style hunter. It will have a sling but no tripod, and the scope will be a bit smaller. Not sure if I will use a 4 x AO mil dot UTG, which I very much like because of its weight and size, or use a 3×12 AO mil dot UTG that is on another one of my guns.
The gun is on its way, if it is ANYTHING like my 25 caliber Condor I’ll be ecstatic. I plan on shooting Kodiaks in the 875+ range, something a Condor SS can do without much problem. As a field gun this gun will be able to shoot between 20 and 60 yds within an 1″ high zone – a 2″ drop at 70 yds and 4″ low at 80 yds according to ChairGun (gun would have a 60 yd zero) —- it will also have 21+ fpe at 75 yds … more than enough for what I want this gun for.
To be honest, I will probably use this gun more than my 25 caliber Condor “High Desert Hunter” just because the 25 caliber with 34gr pellets at 960fps is set up as a long range truck, bench and blind friendly hunting gun, this is more of a walk around gun.
When I get it, pictures will follow with a report.
