Q:

Talon Bounty Hunter .25 ?

Hey guys,
This is my first post. I recently bought a used Talon Bounty Hunter .25 18″ barrel. I have always wanted an AF gun and got it for $250. I thought that was a good deal. I have owned and still do, a Benji Disco .22 with a BNM breech and full shroud & a Benji Mrod .25. They both are very accurate and quiet. My Mrod is slinging the JSB MKII 33.95gr at 816 fps for just over 50 fpe. Now I have the Talon BH. I do not know this rifle like I do the Benjis. So I have a few questions regarding this Talon BH.

Below is a shot string I did this morning.

Talon Bounty Hunter 18″ barrel
JSB MKII 33.95gr pellets
3000 psi fill – Power Wheel on 12

757.9
756.5
759.2
761.0
755.4
754.3
756.4
751.8
754.6
752.0

Avg – 755.9
ES – 9.2
SD – 3.0
FPE – 43.1

Questions
1) Is this string a decent string for this rifle ?
2) Does the velocity look about right for this combination of gun and pellets?
3) How would I go about getting the velocity in the 800 – 850ish realm with these weight pellets ?
4) Are there any adjustments I can make on this rifle to achieve the 800 – 850ish goal without a bunch of mods to the gun ?

I know you guys are very good with these guns as I have been trolling this site for a while. I am truly amazed at some of the things that you guys have done and how you have helped others with your knowledge.
Thanks in advance, Jim

Thanks for the replies guys.
I spoke to an AF rep yesterday, and I was told that I would gain around 50fps by adding a condor hammer weight. I purchased the hammer weight from AF and am waiting for delivery. I will give this a try first to see where it takes me. The good thing about it is if it doesn’t get me there it is easy to put it back to where it was and I am only out $8. If it works it will be the cheapest mod to an airgun that I have ever done. Kinda win win for me.
I was also told over at GTA that I need to shoot it down psi wise as the velocity will rise after 20 or so shots. What do you guys think about that ?
I know with my Mrod that isn’t true, but the AF is a different animal for me.

I would recommend the drifter products reg before buying a new valve. Then you have even more ability to adj it.

You can go to the JSB Kings in the 25 gr. That will get your velocity up some or as was stated go to a condor valve and tank. If you start looking for a condor tank and valve set up if you have a spin-lock get the spin-lock if not get the older style. The condor has the hi-flo valve in it which allows more air to be released from the tank….Good luck with your new adventure.

So this is about the normal performance with this combination ?

:tag: If you are looking for more power with that grain pellet you may need to get a condor valve.
