Q:

Talon-Condor comparo

I screwed my Condor tank onto a NIB Talon today. The Condor was shooting 1020fps with 14.3 UltraMags and the Talon — with the same tank and air pressure — shot 830fps. The Talon was also significantly louder than my Condor with the AH shroud.

Using the same tank on a Condor and a Talon causes me to wonder if the gap between the valve and barrel is identical? Also, are the breechs identical? Any change the size of the chamber the air is released into may make as much difference in FPS as a difference in barrel length.

you wont get the most outta the bigger valve in the ss unless you put a heavyer hammer or a spring spacer in to increase the spring preload….and the two tanks not shooting the same comes from the stupid delrin seal that they use dosn’t deform/jam the same in every valve..

And that’s 21 fpe vs 33 fpe… just ’cause of 12″

quote GT500:

The Talon was right out of the box. The Condor has the original barrel too. Both .22. So, the FPS wasn’t a huge surprise. I was a little surprised at the difference in noise level though.

Id say cause the talon was wasting air. IE more air than would increase velocity

Should have pointed out that this was a Talon SS. The Talon was right out of the box. The Condor has the original barrel too. Both .22. So, the FPS wasn’t a huge surprise. I was a little surprised at the difference in noise level though.

Same length barrel on both guns? Also I have read when guys get two bottles for there guns they never shoot the same fps I am not sure why maybe someone will chime in that has done what you are doing but some variables there that make a difference and barrel lenght also if I remember it is about 15 fps per inch of barrel don’t quote me on this so if you go from a 24″ barrel to a 18″ barrel you loose about 90 fps on the 18″ barrel and then again on the 12″ barrel
