Talon is all setup!
Got my 22 cal talon in yesterday, installed the r&l shround with 8 total cups, cf tank regd to 2000 psi, tt qc top hat no insert, condor valve, aeon 6-24×50 scope, utg bipod. With the reg setup the pw should not have changed anything but did. Then it hit me talon guts condor valve. So i took out the talon hammer and weighed both. Talon was 45 gram condor was 48. Also made a ss screw for the powerwheel out of a old screw i got from a computer. Threw it all back together and now the valve fully opens at 0/0 on the power wheel for and avg of 866 fps with a 18 gr jsb for 29 fpe! Wanted 30 out of the build and nailed it! Got her all laser bore sighted last night. Just need to get out there and sight it in. It is longer than my condor but lighter. Will be a squirrel killing machine!

Nice work on the barrel, glad it worked out. Small lose in fps may be gained back by moving to the heavier pellets. I know my talon and condor usually get more fpe with only a change to heavier pellets.
On the tank i did not know the escape had a different one. Guy named monkeydad has an escape with r&l valve and carbon fiber setup in 25 cal. Thing is a hammer.
May be able to score a used tank set up.
Nice ballistic jell video. Those .22 slugs are moving pretty good. I should have my new shroud tomorrow or friday. Also have a tin of king 25.4gr and a tin of polymags. I love the polymags for hunting and you just can’t go wrong with the kings. I did a little experiment with my gun last night and got to shoot around 40 pellets this evening before it got dark and I love the results so far. I cut 2 inches off my barrel to get rid of the choke. I also cut a new crown and put it back in the gun. I made a 2 inch spacer for inside the shroud so the cups would be held in place and got it all installed. I pumped the gun back up to 2700psi like i have been filling to. Went to the back deck and shot at my target at 50yrds. Believe it or not my groups are tighter now than they ever have been and that is using the king heavy 33.95gr pellets. I did not notice any spiraling of the pellets like i often did when shooting the stock 18in barrel with the choke. I also shot a handful of the H&N Grizzly pellets and they definitely group tight enough to use for hunting. I will chony my gun this weekend to see how many fps i lost from cutting the barrel, but i figure it to be around 20-25fps loss. And i know i will like the longer shroud when it gets here because the extra 2 inches of volume that i gained in my shroud now is a lot quieter than it was. I also like your cf tank setup you have on your guns. I wanted to get a stock size tank but my escape valve will not fit the condor and talon size tanks. So i know it won’t fit in the cf tanks. I guess my option is to just buy a condor tank and valve and tune it for target and shooting the lite pellets and use the smaller escape tank for hunting. Do you have any info on a tank that would be close to the condor size tank that would work with my valve? I heard something about my valve fitting in paintball tanks but don’t know much about it.
Nice. Let us know how it works out. I am very happy with the way the extra cups and length really keep the talon quiet. I am going to try to add the slap mod to the stock condor hammer to quiet the mechanical noise. Also added a maddog short hunter stock to it and am very happy . the stock is alot lighter than anticipated. My talon is longer than my condor but a ton lighter.
Finally got the ballistic gel video up.
Just got off the phone with the guys at RLairgunsupply and got the longer shroud and extra cups for my escapeUL. Can’t wait till this weekend to try it. I have been checking youtube everyday to see if you posted your newest video on your talon with the longer shroud. Any news on when you will post it?
I am going to place my order for the longer tube and extra cups for my escapeUL tonight hopefully. I got my gun out and shot around 20 times today in the cold and it is dead on every time I pick it up. Can’t wait to see how quiet it is with the longer shroud on it. Once I get it I will probably have to change the hammer and spring to further quiet the gun down.
Got all the video done just gotta edit. Learned some coold stuff bout all the different ammo. Will get the video edited and up on youtube as soon as i can.
Can’t wait to see the video. I will be going with the longer shroud soon on my gun. I would rather have a fatter shroud that is around the length I have now but the easy option is just making it longer with more cups. I may try to mod the tube I have now with a piece of 2in pipe and kinda make a shroud over a shroud if you know what I mean. Just to add volume to the shroud. If I mess it up I can always get the longer tube and extra cups.
It is very quiet with the 8 cups. The mechanical noise is alot more noticable than the noise of the shot. The shroud i have is off my condor with 24 inch barrel before i got my tt gen 6 shroud.
I will make a video of the gun running side by side with my condor and 5 shots from each of the pellets for groups. Will also blast ballistic gel. Man i got alot of work to do but will make an awesome video.
How quiet is it with the longer shroud with the 8 cups? I have an rlshroud on my escapeUL and talked to them about the longer shroud with more cups and they quoted me a nice price for the longer tube and extra cups I would need. The one I have now only has 4 cups. Can you post a video of it?
And she is dialed in! 2 shot groups. First were on the low right target. 2nd set was lower, went the wrong way. 3rd set was on target to the right. Last 2 were dead on. Set the white pinfor my 20 yd zero. Was sitting on the side walk using my knee as a rest. Moved to the 25 yard line to set the 2nd pin and bam got it on quickly. Will work on the other zero’s tomorrow. Got mri’s for my knee and back this afternoon so play time is over till this evening! Then it will be condor coyote time.
