Q:

Talon or a Condor, what to to get? advice needed

Ok folks need your advice on what to get. I like power so a Condor is my natural choice in .22 but I have neighbors all around. Concerned if that will be too much of a gun for California use 🙂 if you know what I mean. How loud is the Condor on mid level power setting compared to a Talon? I am looking at either .22 Talon or .22 Condor. Concerned that .22 Talon maybe too slow, and .22 Condor too loud. I know I can always upgrade Talon to a Condor with a Condor hi-flow tank but still would prefer to get a Condor and work on ND device.

What is the chrony data for the .22 Talon like? Like at what fps will it shoot Kodiak’s, and Eunjins on full power? Is the Talon on full power less louder then a Condor considerably or about the same? Need your advice.

thanks in advance….

I am thinking SS too. I didn’t realize that the Talon frame is shorter then the SS and the Condor. That way if I get SS I can always get a 24inch barrel and have something close to a Condor.

Do they sell Talon SS with a Condor tank? PA would not do it. I like that idea of doing a little stuffing of the ss shroud. Anyone uses SS with a Condor tank?

If you order your condor before the end of the year, you get a free co2 adapter. I believe with the co2 the condor is not as loud, as with hpa. My new condor has not arrived yet, however, I am sure others on the board would know (about co2).

hammer springs are the same… the condor frame may be a little stronger in the scope rail area. But it is of no real issue.. with a little work a 12″ barrel on an ss can be made to shoot cp’s around 900 and kodiaks to around 800… Another question you may want to ask yourself is how far you will be shooting. If it is not over 75yds you don’t need anything else.. with the high scope profile on the talon it really flattens out the long range trajectory. Of course the pellet does some fast climbing in the first 15 yards… Oh yeh…the condor or the 18 inch barrel standard talon are loud ( somewhere between a 22 LR and a 20 gauge shotgun ). Even with a frame extension pellets up to 16 grains can easily brake the speed of sound in a condor and the crack is loud enough to piss your neighbors off. The ss handle alot better as well. I have one of each and the ss see’s way more use..

in comparison to HW100 is the stock Talon about the same noise wise?

Another thing I hear something about the Condor frame being larger/stronger then of a regular Talon? I thought the only diff was the 24 inch barrel, hi-flow valve, and a stronger hammer spring?

I agree with the other guys. With neighbors around, you’re just like me and so that’s why I got the Talon SS. It’s quiet and shooting from the inside of my house is no problem and I wait til later to fetch my kills that is if I want them. Some of them are pests so I leave them for the hawks, crows, and stray dogs to pick up. But my stock Talon SS has done me proud. I’ve had it now for a month and I think that I’ve rid all squirrels from my backyard to this point and taking out 2 crows just today. I would get the Talon SS if I were you, but then again it’s your preference on what you want to buy. Condor has more power but the Talon SS keeps the neighbors from calling the cops!

😆 Actually I am power freak, so is my younger brother he is drooling for me to order it 🙂 the Condor.

Stock Talon comes with 18 inch barrel, adding an ND device to it will give me another 5 inches that should boost some power for it. I am interested in seeing .22 Talon Chrono data. Seems to me with 18 inch barrel it should shoot a bit faster then the SS. Is it unreasonable to expect from stock Talon 850- 900fps in .22?

.22 being too slow isn’t an issue with a PCP.

I’d get a SS based on your situation.

Ask yourself this question….What is highest priority Noise or Power?

If noise is then you will need to get a shroud from Talon Tunes to quiet it down.

For most airgun use a Talon SS will be fine. It will shoot CP’s at 850 fps and kodiaks at 750 fps in stock form. And with an SS you can make it quiet for cheap!
