Q:

Talon P and Spin-Loc tank

Does anyone know if latest production Talon P s are being shipped with the Spin-Loc tanks?.

Or will the tanks always be an extra cost accessory?.

While i`m at it, can someone point me in the direction of an accessory that is reasonably priced for the P to make it back yard friendly. I would like to collect most of the dust generated.

Seriously considering a P as my next air gun purchase.

thanks boo

Hi Boo…

The .25 TalonP has a very loud bark! The OEM shroud is empty of any baffles, and shroud volume is very limited for air expansion from the muzzle blast.

The only way to quiet that dog down is to vent the front barrel bushing, and drill vent holes in the shroud in front of the rear barrel bushing, facing down into the forearm. Four to five, about 1/4″ apart. I wouldn’t go bigger than 1/16″ diameter. Much larger and they will have a sound signature of their own. Up front, you are going to need either a long shroud of 7.5″ to 12″ -depending on what baffle is used, or an oversized can type moderator. Neil Clague would be the man to see about a can moderator. He made one that was 1.5″ diameter, I believe, and carbon fiber. The owner said it was quite effective.

I bought my TalonP in Feb 2012 from Pyramyd Air and it came with the spin-loc tank mount but not a spin-loc tank. According to the Pyramyd Air website all Airforce guns now come with the spin-loc mount but they still have the old tank.

I have a new E-TaCp prototype that Jim built for my TalonP and I must say having the spin-loc tank mount sure makes it easy to set the timing of the E-TaCp. It also makes it very easy to remove the tank bushing so you can remove the barrel breech and hammer from the rear of the frame. There’s only one set screw holding the bushing. Loosen it and the bushing drops out.

I’ve got mine from Pyramydair.com about 2 months ago – no spin lock, had to make one myself.

Is a machine shop needed, or is it a garage project?.
