Talon SS .177 CO2 pellet recommendations
I have been shooting my 3 week old Talon SS .177 on CO2 and am extremely pleased with the results. I have one comment and one question.
I am using Predator’s for hunting with excellent results on chipmonks and squirrels – one shot one kill up to around 75′, and accuracy with these seems better than I expected. Noise level is an issue for me and I must stick with the 12″ silenced barrel.
For indoor shooting I am using .177 Beeman match grade wad-cutters (8.04 grains). Excellent accuracy but I remember hearing that a heavier pellet may lessen the noise level a bit.
Is there anyone with a specific (heavier) pellet recommendation which would provide the same level of accuracy as the Beeman wadcutters but reduce the indoor noise level? Type and cost of pellet doesn’t matter, I am just looking for the most accurate and quiet pellet for indoor shooting at distances of around 40′.

Been a couple of days…and only 20 yards…but do think you should give Kodiaks a try.

when I use my 12″ .177 barrel — beeman field target specials -listed as 8.4-8.8 grains are great–beeman ram jets 9.3gr accuracy of a wad cutter under 15 yards–rws super mags are 9.3gr or something like that -great—beeman field target trophy at 8.4gr or so-great pellet—sorry fellas but I gotta say the gamo yes gamo pro magnums are a very accurate pellet think they are 8.0 grains– for the .177 guys try some just under 850fps or so.. 😮 — hope that helps some——shooting a 10grain pellet from a 12″ .177 barrel aint gonna make it much more quiet compared to a 7.9 grain pellet –the sound is different not necessarily more quiet.—I have a 48foot hallway in my house -yep thats the indoor range —Beeman field target specials rule that range–favorite .177 pellet next to the famed kodiak.
For heavy weights, the Kodiak and CPH’s have been working well for me (co2 talon SS). With the CPH’s, some lots suk an others are great…Kodiak’s don’t seem to have bad lots.
Also worth a try are RWS SuperMags…a 9.3gr. WC that has worked quite well for me in several rifles.
Don’;t know how much they change the sound level..or if it’;s just a different tone…but heavy weight pellets do seem to be very slightly quieter. thinking is that they normally earn more energy than lighter weight pellets (lower speed, but more foot pounds)…and that energy had to come from somewhere.

Switched to a 16″ barrel. Been in the 80’s here, can manage to get the 10.6gr. pellets up to 700fps but normally set it down (for these targets) to 630fps. Just uses enough more c02 for that 70fps that the gun cools down much faster, which makes shooting tiny groups a lot harder.
