Talon SS 18" shoots best at 65 yards with 14.3gr or 21

Which would be the better choice to knock a rabbit at 65 yards using a Talon SS with 18″ barrel ??? [Reasoning would be appreciated]
1:] Crosman Premier .22 Cal, 14.3 gr
2;] Beeman Kodiak Extra Heavy .22 Cal 21.10 gr

My crosman premieres are good out to 100 yds with my Talon with 16″ barrel.
i would go somewhere in between….JSB
I would definitly use Kodiaks for that. More FPE, more energy down range, as already stated. I’ve found that my SS or SS/Condor with the 18″er may be my favorite all around combo, with Kodiaks being my favorite all around pellet, in .22 or .25.
It was my first rabbit hunt with my second rifle the Diana RWS 54.
I was on foot for 4 hours after which I had spotted the rabbit and fired at it. [v]
And I did hit the rabbit at around 50 yards….as he/she just jumped into the woods…
I don’t want to take a second chance when I go for my second hunt and so I have put up the query of the 21 gr performance over 14gr with my talon ss 18″ 22 cal
It must be possible that it was a hit and run case and the rabbit might have bled to death later…but the sad part is I never found him/her.
Right spot and the right pellet among those 2 pellets.
As of now I see a stronger vote for Kodiaks

I agree with Rob. The Kodiak would have more retained energy downrange. With the 18″ barrel, you should have no problems sending the heavier pellet. As long as the Kodiaks are accurate in your gun (and you do your part) thats what I would go with.

Well…. The obvious choice is… whatever pellet hits him.
For something as structurally weak as a rabbit, either the 14.3 or 21gr pellet will knock it on its ass at 65 yards.
Assuming that both pellets shoot accurately out of your gun at that range, either one would do fine….
now, of course, the knockdown advantage has to go to the heavier pellet and one would think that it would be the easy choice, and on a critter of more substance, I would tend to agree.

My Talon loves crosman premeire hollow points. Best accuracy iv’e found so far and do a great job on crows. It won’t matter what pellet you use as long as it’s a head shot. Body shots are gonna lose you wabbits for sure. Just hit em in the dome.
