Talon SS. Cocking Issues.. Please help.
‘m having trouble cocking the bolt. It seems like the bolt does not akways want to catch, after a few tries it will, but has become very annoying. Does anyone know how to remedy the situation?

While you are in there you will find 3 little springs that press down on the 3 trigger parts. I went to my local hardware store and bought 3 weaker springs for a buck or two. I can only tell you it made one hell of a differance. Some just cut a few windings off the stock springs to made them softer, I did not want to do that.
Take the time to replace or modify the existing springs.
You will be GLAD YOU DID !!
A few things cause that.
#1 Most common is the sear spring gets compressed and looses some of it length and force. Stretch the spring a tiny bit in length.
#2 Another is if the front trigger guard screw is a bit to long it can interfere with cocking. So put a washer under the head of th bolt.
#3 reason is you bolt has worn a bit and now the slot the sear goes into is a bit to low and pushes the sear down not allowing the gun to cock. Remedy is to incease the depth of the slot in the bolt a bit to give some clearance to the sear.
But start with #1 that will solve the problem 90% of the time
I have had my gun apart numerous times and it does not have the holes pre-drilled for the set screws.. Wish it did. I am going to take it apart tomorrow and see if I can figure out WTF is going on with it. It has become a pain in the ass and a nuisance to even get it to cock. hopefully I can get it all squared away… I so hate taking apart my guns, I just want them to Work!!!

On that same page are instructions for installing the trigger screw mods… BTW, the .177 TSS I bought in 03/11 came from factory with those 2 holes already drilled/tapped 😀 😀
I tried the loosening the front screw and it didn’t seem to help, so I am going to take it apart on my day off and try to lube it up a little. what spring am I supposed to stretch a little? does anyone have a diagram for me?
Seems like mine was trying to do that harry at some time, i pulled the cover off and sprayed some rem gun oil in there liberally, and it took care of it. 🙂
He is referencing the front trigger guard bolt. If it goes a bit to deep it will keep it from cocking.
There should be a washer/spacer under the head of this screw to prevent it going too deep into the frame! Loose this spacer, very easy to do, and tightened, will cause problems.

My trigger setup stock -the safety. I do not have any screws for adjustments, although I wish it did. Bet it would make the trigger a little more friendly.
First try backing out the front screw that mounts the trigger guard. If that’s it, use very little blue Loctite on it and don’t oversight.
Stretch the sear spring a bit longer.
_/\_Has the trigger been modified? Did you add the preload and overtravel screws. Changed the hammer or hammer spring?
_I would try cleaning the trigger parts and checking the springs, first.

Not that I have owned an AF gun for long but, I would be pulling apart the trigger group and checking for a broken spring.

I think I figured it out. keep in mind that I removed the safety when I first got the gun.
I tried stretching and playing with the springs and was getting nowhere. I moved the extra spring and supported the sear where the safety slide used to sit. seemed to fix my problem.
I think that with the safety intact, the safety slide supports the sear to some degree. Hopefully all is good.
