Talon SS Okay for a kid?
I’m thinking about a lightweight PCP air rifle for my daughter who will be 10 soon. She’s a pretty tall kid and I was wondering if the LOP of the Talon rifles would be about right (or could be made so).
I like the tune-ability of the rifle and that it’s a single shot. Easy to mount a bipod as I would like for her to shoot Hunter FT with the rifle.
Anyway, what think you guys.

I like the hold he has, I tend to rest the tank on my shoulder as well.

I let my 5yr old shoot my talon ss today and it was amazing, it’s gonna be pretty hard to get him to go back to his Buck.
We were alternating shooting a spinner at 25 yards, and he was nailing them. I was ready to go in and told him he could shoot till he missed, or ran out of pellets (about 100 left in the tin) He shot almost 30 times without missing…….
With a bi-pod , my 9yr old daughter can shoot as well as I can,and has been shooting Condor/SS for over a yr. She holds the tank about midway with her left hand and shoots pez’s a 25 yds fairly easy. She loves it!

You’ll be able to enjoy the SS right out of the box and can get upgrades as she progresses.

That new sportair thing airforce is making is in pink isn’t it? 🙂
When she gets good with an airforce gun you can go the route I did and get a 300 rum. 😛
I believe Anthony266 can help with the cheek rest, as for the pink your have to paint your self.

Cool, that’s what I was hoping to hear.
We already shoot rimfires together and she’s proving to be quite the little “Annie Oakley”. I have a Biathlon Basic in 22lr that we take to the range and mess around with. Rested on the bench she can nail a 2″ spinner most every time at 100 yards. Her best shot to date is a 12 gauge shotgun hull at 100 yards. It was no accident either, she missed the first shot, made a windage correction (seeing where the round struck on the berm and without my assistance) and nailed it. I was beaming.
I’ve coached her some but she’s a natural. She’s relaxed, shoots with both eyes open (just did that on her own) and is starting to understand the whole sight alignment/sight picture, trigger control thing. But we can only get to the range once a month or so. But we can do the airgun thing most anytime (even in the basement 😀 ).
Here’s the only other obstacle I need to overcome. I’ve seen some aftermarket fore ends, pistol grips and some type of slip over cheek rest that raises the comb of the tank. Where can I find information on these and what are my chances of getting what I need in pink (Yes Pink 🙄 )

Out of all the PCPs I’ve held and handled, The Air Force rifles are the lightest and most easy-to-handle guns I’ve ever had the opportunity to shoot. My AA S410 ERB is a very accurate gun, but so is my Condor SS (actually, any well-maintained PCP is accurate as the next one, in my opinion). Because of what I have just mentioned about my Air Force rifle, it is easily the gun I would favor when going out to hunt, informally plink, or just plain and good ol’ target shoot. My Condor SS is simply the gun I would rather shoot on any given day due to its handling and shooting character. My Air Arms, on the other hand, is too heavy and long … but it is one sweet shooter, though.
I think it a great idea, their should be more parental units introducing the new generation to safe and sane shooting.
My 12 year old is small for his age and handles an SS with no problems. I also think it is a great confidence builder taking the accuracy of these things into consideration when they can nail what they’re aiming at, at 40-50 yds.
