Q:

Talon SS or Marauder?

Hi,

I’m looking at buying either a talon, talon SS or a condor vs a Benjamin Marauder.

Prices locally are: Talon 499, talon SS 508, condor 599 (no sights no clamp)
Marauder is 439

I have a scuba tank as well as a co2 and hand pump for a Benjamin Discovery that I already own. The scuba fill could be adapted to fit a talon for about 15 dollars.

To the questions!

If anyone has both the talon SS and the marauder how are the noise levels in comparison? From what i gather the marauder is quieter.

How low can you adjust a condor for under 20 yard shooting, say 600 fps or so and how many shots will that net you? I gather from reading @ 50 useful shots at a lower power and 15 or so at full power.

I anticipate the talon/condor would be similar to the discovery in noise at comparable velocity’s, correct me if i’m wrong.

Can you use hpa paintball tanks with an output of 850psi for low velocity shooting with the co2 adapter? I see regulated versions with 1000-1500 psi being mentioned but no 800-850 psi. To low? (This would be a huge factor since i have 2 tanks that could be used for plinking at low velocity)

Add to this as well as you see fit.

Talon family
+very very adjustable usefull power band and it seems easier to tune than the marauder.
= accuracy seems about the same on both
+use of hpa paintball tanks for lots of shots at low velocity (if possible)
+easy to swap out calibers/barrel lengths

Those are my main attractions to the talon line.

Marauder
+quiet (seems to be the most quiet)
+10 shot clip
+adjustable trigger
-adjustability seems more involved
-heavier
-can’t swap calibers
-velocity’s are not as flexible nor as powerful as a condor
+I have all the fill gear

I would very very much appreciate some input from those with experience in both for making a final decision. The discovery is a great low cost pcp and kicked the door in hard for wanting more of them. I have eyed the talon line for years but the marauder has a LOT going for it.

Thank you!

Lee

So where are you getting this $439 Marauder price???

Air force guns can be easily modded out and fun to do so. I have a Condor 25cal and Marauder. Love em both.

Later

Just don’t call it a Maudie, OK? 😆

Lee,

Fill gauge, multishot, suppressed, good trigger, good customer service

Get the Marauder.

We will be here when you get your Condor.

I’m leaning marauder as of right now, monday when i pick it up in store and check out both will be the final call. 439 is 60 dollars lower than anything i can find online which only helps the marauders case. I’m sure something in the talon line will end up in the gun cabinet in time. From what i’m reading the marauder is extremely quiet.

For the money the Marauder is a winner.

I would buy one in a heart beat if I needed a new gun.

The Airforce line of rifles are unique and a blast to shoot. But if you are tight on cash and need a shooter the Marauder is hard to beat $$ wise.

Just look at it this way. You can always buy one now and the other latter. The order you get it is up to you.

Creating the marauder didn’t make this choice easy!

Regulated HPA @ 850psi = CO2

do you want a black gun or a wood gun?

So you could expect co2 performance off a standard hpa tank Awesome. Thats a big plus on the talon line. Being able to fill two small hpa tanks for a few hundred or more shots for plinking beats dragging a scuba tank out.

I’m reading hundreds of shots at @600-700 fps that sound right? The pb tanks will fill off the foster fitted setup for the disco using the scuba tanks.

Black or wood doesn’t matter much I like both.
