Talon ss vs my old springer..
Waaay back in 1986 I forked out the dough for a rws 45. I had never even been close to anything other than a pump or cock bb gun..when I read the ad..ADULT AIR RIFLE.. thats all it took..I had to have one, when I got it in no one had ever heard of such a thing around here..(just like my SS now when I pull it out people eyes boggle..) I shot that rifle til my cocking arm was numb..I had never seen such accuracy..a couple of years later and it got moved to the back of the gun safe.. well I pulled it out this morning,(I’m glad I did, I found a new ruger 10-22 I bought last year and forgot about) I havent shot it on over 15 years.. I wiped out 1/2″ dust from the scope and loaded a cp in her and whammo…just like the old days..what power..I had forgotten the smell it has when you break it open from a shot..it still shoots wonderful.. I got my crowmags and my cp’s and shot them into a popular board I sawed on my woodmizer..the pellets buried into the wood about 3/8 of a inch.., I loaded up my talon.. on co2.. and fired the same shots..the pellets were sticking halfway out of the board 😥 I knew I wasnt getting a lot of velocity but I never imagined it sucked this bad..I gotta get a air tank.. 😆

Yep that sounds too cold for CO2. I use CO2 in my TSS a fair amount, but I shoot indoor mostly. Have compressed air and it does it a lot harder, 525 fps versus 780fps, if my chrony is correct.
Here’s an idea: Get electric socks (like for hunting) at Cabelas or Bass pro shop and put it over the CO2 tank.
Here’s another idea I was going to try, but since going HPA with my AF rifle, never got around to it. But it might be even easier to implement. Baby bottle warmers. This, or something similar to this, may be even a better solution. Even comes with a cinch sack that helps insulate the heat so it may last longer. Just be sure of the fit to your CO2 bottle. Just google baby bottle warmers, there’s all kinds and sizes.

I used to do a couple of things when shooting C02 with my bulk filled 2250. In colder weather, I just took a hairdryer and went over the bottle with it for a minute or so after every few shots, worked good. Then I found some micro waveable heat packs that I would tape around the bottle, that worked real good, and for about 45 min of full C02 power regardless of outside temp. They even sell smaller thin heat packs that get hot on they’re own, take a few with you if you’re shooting away from the house. Just activate them and tape around bottle. You’ll really see a difference in chilly weather.
Don’t change anything…just tke the rifle into thehouse, set it in a warm spot for a couple of hours, then run out and shoot that chunk of wood again (before the cold gets to the rifle).
then leave it out in the cold for 30-40 min. and shoot that wood again (this time, be careful…may have to ducka bunce back).
Hmmm,.. it was about 35 when I did the shots…
Get the air tank, co2 just doesn’t have a lot of power….and can figure a 2 foot per second loss in vel. for every degree in temp. drop (. Was set to shoot 14.3gr. @ 600 when 85degrees, now that it’s 55degrees getting 537fps.
Any colder, and you’ll have to duck the pellet bouncing back at you from that chunk of wood.

The only gun that shoot worth a shit in cold weather is the MAc1 LD crosman Mk1 pistol….can shoot as low as 50 degrees without super drastic power drops….QB’s and others forgettttaboooouttt-it.
