Q:

Talon SS with Micrometer Tank

Good day all would like your comments and advice I’m considering getting a Talon SS .177 with Micrometer Tank….. want to use it for ratting at 30m max. And as I want to shoot a lot of rats anything that will give me more consistency and 200+ shots sounds good to me.

Well, for me the weather/temperature is an important factor. I have been shooting in my garage today and the high was 5F.
The other advantage is air is free I guess 🙂 At least if you pump as I do.

CO2 is self regulating if the temperature is constant, which is a good advantage.
The micrometer valve does a pretty good job as far as consistency goes.

So I guess is goes back to temperature and costs.

Other than cold weather, what is the advantages of the micro meter tank vs. CO2? I get over 400 shots from an 9-ounce CO2 tank at about 600 fps. I should also note that I don’t have any source of HPA though.

For plinking and target shooting this is an endless reservoir of joy!

I have a .22cal talon ss and just picked a micrometer tank used…
I only spent a little time with it and did some chrony just to see but this tank is awesome.

With the power wheel on 2/15 I get low/mid 400s FPS but with the power wheel at 10/15 i get low 800s FPS.

This is using 15.9 gr JSB’s and I am running a TT talon hammer with slap mod, also have home-made baffling inside the shroud with a 9″ TT LDC topping it off.

I do not have a shot count on a 3000psi fill yet and have not explored accuracy but this tank has captured my interest.

Hi,

that is why I am using a 24″ barrel on the micro-meter tank.
The 24″ barrel wastes less air and gets the pellets at a higher speed.

According to AF website .177 will lose 20% compared to .22

Hi,

I have the same combination except I have a .22 24″ barrel.
I get about 12fpe on power 2.

I use this rifle for indoor target shooting (300+ shots!)
I assume that with the .177 will work as good 🙂

Cheers
Chris

the micro meter tank is a great tank it is very underrated sounds perfect for what you need. Thanks Tony
