Talon/Talon SS with frame extender
Hi,
I have the following questions:
Off these three options, which combination makes less noise?
I want to use Bulls-Eye Bill’s frame extenders ($50).
At Pyramydair they say that the loudness of the normal Talon is 5-high, when I use the frame extender, do I get loudness 2 Low-Medium like the Talon SS, or something in between?
1. A Talon SS with 12″ barrel
2. A Talon SS with 18″ barrel en frame extender
3. A Talon with 18″ barrel en frame extender
Another question:
Most people at Pyramydair prefer the AF Tri-rail for using a scope. But is it oke, when I only use the normal high scope mounts. I’ve no intentions to mount other things on this rail. Then I can save $30.
Is it a good choice to use the UTG or Swiss Arms bipod instead of the Airforce bipod? Again the AF bipod is $65, the other to each $35 with adapter. And I know, quality has its price. But sometimes you really can pay to much.

If noise (and money) is your major concern, start with the SS. You can build out from there as your budget allows.
If your using a one piece scope mount then the Tri-Rail is not needed, altough it has been speculated that it strengthens the frame of the rifle.
On the flip side if the Tri-Rail isn’t perfectly straight (more speculation) then it will warp the frame.
The TalonSS plus a shroud will be more quiet(er) 😕 than a Talon with a shroud if the shrouds are the same size…
If your thinking of a Talon and not a Condor get the SS unless your going for super compact… It’s better to have then to not…
IMHO the AF bipod is junk, buy a 3/8″ dovetail sling mount and get the $70 Harris 6″-9″, I have the AF and two Harris clones, just got a real Harris and I should have done it a long time ago, don’t waste your money on a cheap Harris clone… 😉

some of the Harris clones are pretty good. the one I go t From Buzzcat works just fine. I just picked up another one at a local gun show that is shorter and has deep notches to lock it into position. I have no complaints at all. The Harris has gone through the roof. Probably available on line cheaper than the local gun stores though. I just can’t see 80.00+ for the Harris! 😯 The AF version is,well pretty bad!
