Q:

Talon Tunes Gen 5 Condor Shroud

I ordered the latest gen five 14 inch Condor shroud from Talon Tunes yesterday. I am really looking forward to receiving it, if it is half as good as I hear I will love it.

I have a couple of shrouds presently and the better ones work well until I reach about 65 – 70 foot pounds. After that they struggle and volume increases disproportionately against further power increases.

From all the reviews I suspect the Talon shroud will cope a lot better. As with everything, I shall share my experience on the forum. :fishinghole:

Where are the Pics. I am uncertain what a Generation 5 shroud is any input?

Very happy 😀

Quick update, I’m just waiting to hear from Tony on how he is getting on with my shroud.

Just got mine, yesterday! It really is as quiet as everyone says.

Craftsmanship is excellent too!, just a warning that it will really make you feel like your gun is underpowered…… due to just the mechanical noise.

Brilliant Cally. Thanks for that. I look forward to thinking my gun is underpowered. That will be ace. I will strap my little Combro chrony on to confirm my numbers are still there.

As power increases so does the noise. No way around that.

I can shoot my 257 at 110-120 fpe and it sounds like a toy. At 200 fpe it’s still quiet but probably twice as loud.

My shroud goes around 7″ past the muzzle. If I go 10″ I’m sure it would be quieter but I’m already to the point where the machanical noise is more than the muzzle. For 200 fpe gun it is quiet. I would call it close to backyard friendly but there is no reason to shoot a 200 fpe gun in the suburbs.

That’s very interesting Doug thanks. I suspected there was no way to completely break the link between power and noise but at the moment I’m leaving “toy volume” well behind after about 50fpe. My target numbers are lower than yours above, so hopefully mine will sound like a toy with Tony’s shroud at 80 -90 fpe. I do agree with you no reason to be shooting at really high numbers in backyards. I go to my shooting club when I want to stretch her legs.
