Talon With Direct-Flow Valve
I posted some of this in the TalonP forum because that is what I started with. But with the swap to an 18″ barrel I actually have a Talon with a Direct-Flow valve and a 13ci tank. I thought some of you might be interested in what a Direct-Flow valve will do with an 18″ barrel.
Here’s a 12 shot string I shot this afternoon. The chrony I’m using I’ve been using for a couple of years with many PCPs, springers, and CO2 guns. To the best of my knowledge it is accurate. All of my guns have been close to factory specs on the chrony.
My first 12 shot string on my TalonP with 18″ barrel and 13ci tank filled to 3000psi shooting 43 grain EunJins:
1.) 993fps 94fpe
2.) 975fps 90fpe
3.) 970fps 89fpe
4.) 961fps 88fpe
5.) 952fps 86fpe
6.) 931fps 82fpe
7.) 930fps 82fpe
8.) 906fps 78fpe
9.) 893fps 76fpe
10.) 873fps 72fpe
11.) 860fps 70fpe
12.) 852fps 69fpe
I was a bit surprised by that string but then I suspected the Direct-Flow valve had a lot of potential. The 18″ barrel really made a difference. Now I need to install my E-TaCP and 17ci tank as soon as Jim finishes building my E-TaCP. He’s building it in aluminum instead of steel because of the thread size on the Direct-Flow valve. Then I’ll shoot another string and see what a slightly larger tank does if anything.
