Q:

TalonP with 18" LW Barrel

I finally got around to installing the 18″ barrel in my TalonP. Overall length is exactly the same as it was with the 12″ barrel and R&L Shorty shroud. But what a difference in power. I set up my chrony in my indoor garage range and filled my 13ci tank to 3000psi. I loaded an EunJin 43 grain pellet took aim and pulled the trigger. I got an error reading. So I did it again. I got another error reading. I had moved my chrony and light the last time I used the range so I check the lighting and tried again. This time I got a reading, 540fps. What the !? I forgot I had turned the power wheel all the way down to swap out the barrels. Hey, we can’t all be perfect.

Okay, power wheel cranked all the way up. One shot to settle in the new setting. 1033fps, holy bat shit, that’s 101fpe! An anomaly for sure. Second shot. 937fps for 83fpe. That’s more like it. That Direct-Flow valve works very well with an 18″ barrel. Then came the call for dinner. So I’ll try again tomorrow to get a good 5 shot string on a fresh 3000psi fill.

Tonight I need to take some pics of the 12″ barrel and R&L Shorty shroud to post for sale. The 18″ barrel is a keeper for sure. My assault rifle look-a-like is coming along nicely. The quad rail will be here in a few days then I need to do some measuring to decide where I want to mount the other goodies.

Anyway, I thought you guys might want to know if the Direct-Flow valve has any potential with a longer barrel. So far so good.

I’ll keep you posted.
