Tank dump
I have had my condor tank dump 3 times.It has done it once with jerrys 6 ring slug and twice with the 7 ring slug.i am using a TT adjustable tophat without any of the restrictors .The last time it dumped I was using the 7 ring slug and had used a cut off golf tee to push it about a half inch into the barrel.I had the pw on 4 at that time also.

Thanks, that makes sense so I had better have a good amount of air behind the slug.
It may be necessary to size Jerry’s slugs down a small amount. If they are too tight, they will act as an obstruction on the bore. Pushing them further down the bore will exacerbate the problem.
And a BIG no-no is leaving too much of the slug not fully seated into the bore. This can cause the breach to explode.
One thing that can help to prevent tank dump when shooting slugs, is to only run the tank at high pressure. Not the usual 2500-2600 psi the condors usually enjoy. You can remove the valve body from the tank and tighten the spring tension on the back of the valve.
For normal pellet shooting, you want the spring retainer only slightly screwed in. For Bullet shooting, you want a good bit more tension in there. A combination of higher air pressure pressing on the back of the valve, and higher pressure from the spring will help greatly here. But shoot her down too far, and she is gonna still dump! 😉

I did a site search and got 74 hits on “tank dump.” Most of the ones I checked didn’t really have to do with the cause. Can anyone help narrow things down?

Be carefull with shooting heavy slugs with the standard breech. Wouldn’t be the first breech to split in two. Better to sleeve the breech with aluminium.
