Tank Dump

I had a guy in town that had three in a row and it turned out that he had his top hat adjusted out just far enough that the breach wouldn’t come far enough back to allow the knob to fully sit in its cut-out so when he shot it came back, rotated slightly to sit in the cut-out and hold the valve open… Easy fix once we figured out what was causing it…

I have only had one tank dump experience. My neighbor was trying out my TSS. I told him to fully insert the pelllet about 1/32″ into the barrel/chamber, but he didn’t understand. It’s quite exciting and as Tony said, you’ll know when it happens. 😀

The pellet skirt must be seated below the rim of the chamber. If the skirt extends out the back of the chamber, then the tophat can get stuck open and dump the contents of the bottle, quickly. (Did I get that right?) It’s easy to avoid. Just make sure the pellet is seated bleow the rim of the chamber at the breech end of the barrrel. I try to get a consistent seating depth as it probably affects velocity to some minor degree.

If you are using a hand pump, you probably don’t want to experience tank dump as you will be refilling your tank from almost nothing as if it were new out of the box. That’s alot of pumping! 😉
