Q:

Tank top off

Question I’ve got a scuba tank with an air force adapter to fill my Talon tanks, now I’m thinking that perhaps this adapter could be hooked up to a shoebox and top off the scuba. Any comments? This would save about $150.00 and wear and tear on the scuba k valve.’

Thanks Gary

You got it.

I just plug my fill line into my compressor using the quick connects. I hardly never take the adapter off. My compressor only puts out 3200 psi, so I don’t have to worry about over pressuring. It does put more wear of the female QC, but they are cheap.

I’m not following you when you say it would save on your scuba K valve.

You have to use a valve on your tank to keep the air in the tank, no matter how you fill it.

Using the Shosebox compressor to fill a scuba tank would require some kind of pop/blow off valve to keep from over pressurizing your tank. Scuba tanks are only good to about 3000 psi., while the Shosebox puts out some where around 4500 psi.

P.S. I think you can get something from Tom (the shosebox guy) to shut off the compressor for filling scuba tank, I might be worng.
